Manchester Maccabi crashed out of the Fred Davies Challenge Cup after slumping to a 3-2 defeat against King George FC.

Despite taking on a side in the division above, Maccabi created chance after chance with only a spectacular last-gasp save denying them the opportunity to take the tie into extra-time.

Leeds eye Broughton battle

Leeds Maccabi 3rd boss Alex Ullmann has set his sights on next weekend’s battle of the basement when they take on Broughton.

Second-bottom Leeds were beaten 2-0 by Republic of Mancunia 1st after conceding two late goals and remain winless so far this season.

Sheldon Lee’s double was enough to give Maccabi all three points and inflict a first league defeat of the season on the visitors.

Lions ready to hunt down Haroldeans

Zack Gothelf insists his Oakhill Lions are ready to roar to the top of the MJSL after moving to within six points of league leaders Haroldeans.

The Manchester students are unbeaten since the opening day and defeated Crumpsall 3-0 on Sunday thanks to goals from Josh Daniels, Eli Gottlieb and Alex Goodman.

Northern football round-up: November 27

Sheldon Lee blew the MJSL title race wide open after inflicting a shock defeat on league leaders Haroldeans.

The experienced defender scored twice as Manchester Maccabi 3rd claimed a 2-1 win over the Merseysiders.

Haroldeans had won all nine of their league games before taking on the reigning champions, but were unable to maintain their perfect record.

Leeds Maccabi 2nd crashed out of the Sunday Alliance Division One Cup following a narrow 2-1 defeat by Temple FC.

Despite dominating the game for long periods, Leeds were indebted to goalkeeper Jamie Rudette, who produced a stunning penalty save to keep his side level after 21 minutes.

Dave Woolman continued his red-hot streak after firing Leeds Maccabi 1st to victory over basement boys Northern Star.

Woolman scored a hat-trick in the opening 30 minutes and grabbed his fourth after the break as Ian Selwyn’s side hit six against their local rivals.

Paul Levy believes his Republic of Mancunia 2nd side fully deserve their place in the semi-finals of the Harold Feldman Trophy.

Republic cruised past Crumpsall following a 4-0 victory with Gary Freeman, Blake Englander, Gabriel Silva and Andrew Shaffer all on target.

Levy says his players merited their victory over a Crumpsall team bang in form and is now eyeing further progress.

Collins proud despite defeat

Neil Collins paid tribute to the players of South Manchester Sports Club 2nd and Manchester Maccabi 3rd after they marked the 30th anniversary of his mother’s death with a real cup thriller.

Both sets of players observed a minute silence in honour of former MJSL league secretary, Joan Collins, before playing out a cup classic in the Harold Feldman Trophy.

Steve Bentwood hailed his comeback kings as Manchester Maccabi claimed their place in the semi-finals of the Harold Feldman Trophy.

Traling 2-0 with just eight minutes remaining, Maccabi rallied to take the game into extra time through goals from Sam Calmonson and Max Lee.

The Lions, who have now won five games on the spin, booked their place in the semi-finals with a rampant second-half display.

The 15-year-old from Newton Abbot broke several records on her way to winning the teenage one class at the World Drug Free Powerlifting World Championships.
