Britain condemns Gaza rockets

Britain has condemned the firing of five rockets from Gaza into the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon yesterday.

Minister for the Middle East, Hugh Robertson said that the rockets fired into Israel were a “violation of international law”.

Kick It Out threatens JC over Anelka

Kick It Out, the organisation charged with tackling racism in football, reacted to concerns over its failure to condemn Nicolas Anelka’s quenelle gesture by threatening to take legal action against the JC.

African migrants in Israel are planning mass demonstrations in front of a number of foreign embassies and diplomatic offices to protest against the government’s immigration policies.

The migrants, mainly from Eritrea and South Sudan, are also striking over the long delays in processing asylum requests and poor detention conditions.

Weapons found in home of killed Palestinian envoy

A large arms cache has been discovered by Czech authorities at the residence of the Palestinian ambassador in Prague, Jamel al-Jamal, who was killed on Wednesday when a safe exploded in his home.

Czech media outlets report that the weapons stock, obtained illegally, was big enough to arm a squad of 10 men.

Anelka ‘hate gesture must lead to long ban’

A leading adviser to the Football Association, and the head of a body representing European Jews, have attacked West Bromwich Albion football club for its response to Nicolas Anelka’s quenelle gesture.

Alex Goldberg, who set up the FA’s commission on antisemitism, told the JC that the club’s behaviour since the incident had been “foolish and weak”.

EU warns Israel over settlement pledge

An EU diplomat told Israel’s Channel 10 news that Jerusalem should expect a “harsh response by the European governments if it intends to go in this direction”.
