Supporting Itamar

By mattpryor, March 17, 2011

Following last week's tragic and devastating terrorist attacks in Samaria, I thought I'd compile a list of ways in which people can express love and support for the Fogel family and people of Itamar.

- One Family UK (thanks Mike) are providing financial support for the surviving Fogel family members, including their two orphaned children:

The Fogel Family

By mattpryor, March 14, 2011

I cannot describe how upset I was upon reading about this, or how utterly gut-wrenching it was to read the BBC's incredibly cold and politicised reporting of it. So I thought I would just post some photos of the family, and a link to a video interview with Udi and Ruth Fogel, and offer my deepest sympathies to their relatives and friends.

Udi Fogel:

Dry Bones on Twitter

By mattpryor, March 4, 2011

If you enjoy Yaakov Kirschen's regular cartoons poking fun at the crazy world of the Middle East, and if you have a Twitter account, then please show your appreciation by following him:

And here's this morning's cartoon, in case you haven't already seen it:

Will Palestinians revolt against their two governments?

By mattpryor, March 2, 2011

An interesting take on events in the Gaza Strip and Judea and Samaria by Khaled Abu Toameh.

Original URL is

Many people have been wondering when and if the popular uprisings currently sweeping the Arab world will also reach the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Benjamin Netanyahu: "The British worry me"

By mattpryor, March 1, 2011

During an interview with the Telegraph, Bibi says that he is "worried" about Britain. I suspect that he is not the only one...

Tuesday Quiz

By mattpryor, February 22, 2011

As tempers are getting a little frayed today I thought it was time for a bit of light relief (no not that kind!). So 25 points goes to whoever can tell me which Israeli politician made the following speech about Barack Obama in the Knesset:

"After the exposure of lies from the US, we must say frankly to Obama: You no longer scare us and you can go to hell.

"Obama cannot be trusted. We knew his promises were lies. The time has come to spit in the face of the Americans."

"[We tell him] he is no longer wanted in the Middle East and that he can go to hell."

Help stop the massacres in Libya

By mattpryor, February 21, 2011

This is from the superb UN Watch, which fights hypocrisy and prejudice at the United Nations. Please support their cause by clicking on the link at the bottom.

The Middle East is aflame, yet nowhere is human life being trampled with more brutality, more victims, and more secrecy than in Libya. In the past few days, hundreds of peaceful protesters and innocent bystanders were deliberately shot and killed by government snipers and foreign mercenaries.

Arson attack on mosque in Haywards Heath

By mattpryor, February 18, 2011

In the early hours of Sunday a mosque in Haywards Heath, near Horsham in West Sussex, was the target of a suspected arson attack. Three men all aged 19 have been arrested and charged for the offence, and appeared before Crawley Magistrates Court yesterday.

The full story is here:

I find such acts of religious hatred utterly deplorable and invite fellow JC bloggers to join me in expressing condemnation of this act.

Lauren Booth stirs up anti-Israel hatred in Malaysia

By mattpryor, February 15, 2011

Read the interview - it's pretty shocking.

Q: He [Malaysian P.M. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad] has been labeled an anti-Semitic in the Western press due to his vies on Israel. Do you agree?

A: If you speak to Dr. Mahathir, it is clear he has neither the personality nor the inclination to be an anti-Semite. He is a thoughtful, pious and philosophical man.
I want to tell the people of Malaysia not to be scared of being labeled anti-Semitic when criticising the unjust, disgraceful behaviour of the Israel regime.

Egypt losing the Sinai?

By mattpryor, February 14, 2011

According to reports in the Jerusalem Post (formerly the Palestine Post, before reality was inverted) Egyptian police stations in the Sinai are being abandoned at an alarming rate as Bedouin gangs seek to gain control of the desert region, launching attacks against Egyptian authorities with small arms and rocket launchers.

Lessons from America

By mattpryor, February 9, 2011

Following the shameful behaviour of the SPSC towards Ismail Khaldi I thought this was worth mentioning. Last February, you may recall, Israel's ambassador to the US, Michael Oren, was subjected to similar abuse when he was invited to give a talk at the University of California in Irvine.

Islamists attack two Christian Families in Egypt - 11 killed

Note that for political correctness I have replaced the word "Muslims" with "Islamists" in the title.

Frightened Iran Steps Up Its Murders

By mattpryor, February 2, 2011

While the world's attention is focussed on the turbulent events in Egypt, Jordan and Tunisia, Tehran has dramatically increased the rate at which it is executing dissidents. In January alone 66 pro-democracy activists have been hanged following three minute show trials.

If you are in any doubts about what will happen in Egypt if Mubarak falls, please watch this video of a CNN interview with some "peaceful protesters":

Louis Theroux and the Ultra Zionists

By mattpryor, January 28, 2011

This is a heads up. Louis Theroux has made a documentary set in Judea and Samaria where he spends time with some "ultra Zionists" and gets to know them. It will be aired on BBC2 on the 3rd of February.

Press TV UK accounts frozen

By mattpryor, January 27, 2011

Natwest Bank has frozen the bank account of the Iranian regime's British TV channel, Press TV, estimated to be worth around £100,000.

AFP News

Lauren Booth, the sister-in-law of former British prime minister Tony Blair who works for Press TV and recently converted to Islam, blasted the move as a "politically motivated act," in comments to the paper.

Lebanon is burning.

By mattpryor, January 25, 2011

While the middle east punditry's attention has been focused on "Pali-leaks", scant coverage has been given to the tumultuous events occurring in neighbouring Lebanon.

Now the country is burning once again. Opponents of Hezbollah (The Army of Allah) and Sunni supporters of former PM Hariri (who was deposed in an effective coup by Hezbollah while visiting President Obama) are rioting in the streets in Beirut. Now, more than ever, the moderate pro-democracy forces in Lebanon need the West's support.

Moscow suicide bombing: 30 dead, 100 injured

By mattpryor, January 24, 2011

An apparent suicide bombing has taken place at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport, with many casualties. According to the BBC:

More than 100 more are thought to have been injured in the blast, which reports suggest may have been the work of a suicide bomber.

Russia's chief investigator said the explosion was the work of terrorists.

The airport is 40km (25 miles) south-east of the city centre, and is popular with foreign workers and tourists.

Emergency services are on the scene and tending to the wounded.
