Three on hate crime charge

Three men have been charged with racially aggravated harassment against two Jews in Golders Green.
Krisztian Sandor Kovacs, 32, from Harrow, Gabor Nehez, 34, from Wembley and Mark Minoricz, 33, from Wembley, were arrested last month after an incident involving a 35-year-old and 14-year-old in Golders Green Road. They pleaded not guilty and will appear before Hendon magistrates next month.

Beth Din sells on man's divorce debt

The London Beth Din has backtracked after it re-assigned a debt, owed by a man for a religious divorce certificate, to his ex-wife's new boyfriend.

Melanie Stein was granted a get in 2007, but the Beth Din refused to issue the certificate until a £405 administration fee had been paid in full by her ex-husband, Anton Stein.

Van where pigs meet kosher meat

A pig carcass has been discovered hanging in a delivery lorry next to kosher meat which has been stamped by London's strictest kashrut authority.

A series of photographs published on a Charedi news website, Behadrei Haredim, shows an unwrapped pig carcass hanging in a lorry next to kosher beef with a clearly marked Kedassia stamp.

Arrests after kosher restaurant fight

Two men have been arrested following a brawl outside Reubens restaurant in central London.

The 56-year-old and 26-year-old, who have been released on bail, were arrested on Monday night on suspicion of actual bodily harm after they were involved in an altercation with a 37-year-old man following allegations of non-payment at the kosher restaurant in Baker Street.

Yavneh celebrates award of academy status

Five years after opening its doors, Yavneh College in Borehamwood has become the first Jewish school to be awarded academy status by the Department for Education.

As a result, it will receive an additional £200,000 of annual funding directly from the government. It will employ extra staff, purchase more equipment and focus on plans to set up a two-form entry primary.

Skeletons found in 12th century well
