Big Bash glory for Klinger

Michael Klinger helped Perth Scorchers win the Big Bash final following a thrilling four-wicket success over Sydney Sixers.

Opening-batsman Klinger smashed 33 runs from 37 balls, including four fours, in an opening partnership of 70 with Sean Marsh.

Perth went on to chase down a target of 148 from their 20 overs, winning off the final ball of the match.

Grant relishing Superleague bow

Hattie Grant is relishing her Superleague debut after being selected for Team Northumbria.

Grant, who is 18 and from Leeds, has made big strides after helping Team Maccabi GB win gold in the junior netball competition at the 2013 Maccabiah Games.

She took up the sport aged nine and represented her county, West Yorkshire, two years later.

Ollie Rokenson helped Rosh Pinah secure the Barnet Borough Year Six tournament.

Rokenson, who also scored in the team’s opening victory over Dollis Hill, registered the only goal in the final against Frith Manor.

Rosh Pinah went through the competition unbeaten, with Dylan Phillips finishing as top-scorer with three goals.

There was something quite magical about Josh Bharier's strike in the top-of-the-table clash against Faithfold B - the JC Goal of the Week.

Dovi Vogel instigated the move, dribbling down the left before passing to Bharier who took one touch with his right foot and then with his left foot, curled his shot over the keeper and into the top left corner where post meets bar.

Bykanov wins Euro gold

Vladislav Bykanov became the first Israeli to win a major European crown after claiming gold at the Short-Track Speed Skating event in Holland.

After completing the 3,000m course in 4:54:15 at the European Championships, Bykanov said: "I surprised myself. It's true this has been the target of my training all season but it is still difficult to take in."
