UK Jewish Film Festival banned from the Tricycle Theatre: But some won’t attack boycott

The Board of Deputies and Jewish Leadership Council have condemned the Tricycle Theatre’s decision to ban the UK Jewish Film Festival as “shameful”.

But despite the communal outrage, a number of Jewish figures involved with the north-west London theatre have refused to criticise the boycott.

Tricycle Theatre refuses to host UK Jewish Film Festival over Israeli sponsorship

A major London theatre has refused to host the UK Jewish Film Festival because it is sponsored by the Israeli embassy.

The Tricycle Theatre was scheduled to be the main venue for the UKJFF in November, with 26 films due to be screened there as well as six gala events.

Jerusalem hit by two terror attacks

Israelis were targeted in two separate terrorist attacks in Jerusalem this afternoon.

One civilian was killed after a terrorist drove a tractor into a moving bus, causing it to tip over.

The unidentified victim died as a result of the collision; another seven were injured.

The terrorist was shot dead by police.

Son of dead cyclist in plea to Boris Johnson

The son of a Jewish cyclist killed in a collision with a lorry, has called on the Mayor of London to “stop promoting cycling in an unsafe city”.

Dr Clive Richards suffered a heart attack after he was struck by a lorry on Archway Road in Highgate last August. The 67-year-old grandfather, from Whetstone was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Singer Zayn Malik was challenged by Israeli fans after he tweeted “#FreePalestine” to his 13 million followers.

Kensington High Street was awash with Israeli flags as British Jews demonstrated their support at a Zionist Federation (ZF) rally on Sunday.

An estimated 5,000 people - from children to grandparents – showed their solidarity, singing Am Yisrael Chai and the Hatikvah and holding aloft placards demanding an end to Hamas terrorism.

Rachael Neustadt reunited with kidnapped sons

An Orthodox Jewish mother has been reunited with her two sons after they were kidnapped by their father in December 2012.

Rachael Neustadt, a former teacher, said she wanted to thank the UK Jewish community for their “prayers” after she was reunited with Daniel Jacob, aged eight, and Jonathan, six.

The Assisted Dying Bill, which was due to be debated in the House of Lords today, would permit lethal drugs to be administered to people with less than six months to live.

Israeli among victims of Malaysian plane disaster

An Israeli man was among 298 people killed in the attack on a Malaysian Airlines plane yesterday afternoon.

Itamar Avnon was on the flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when the plane was shot down in eastern Ukraine in what has been described as an act of terrorism.

Mr Avnon, an IDF paratrooper who fought in Operation Cast Lead, was on his way to Australia.

Developer quits Reform

Ms Goldsmith, who has more than 20 years' experience in private consulting, said she "wished to return to a role that I thoroughly enjoyed - my reasons were not financial".
