The only shul representative on the seminar was Diana Bronson, a 54-year-old mother of four who runs cheder and youth group sessions at Edgware Synagogue as a volunteer. Visiting Israel for the first time in 24 years, she said she wanted to acquire the expertise “get the Holocaust better known to kids who are not Jewish. A lot of non-Jewish kids have never been to a synagogue, so learning about the Holocaust in the shul means they also get to see what Jews actually do.”

She had found the ISHS programme “amazing. It’s a very vivid and strong experience. It’s had such an impact. Everyone in the group has contributed because we’re from diverse backgrounds and have different talents. It is giving me more knowledge and information that I can pass on.”
