There were tears of joy and sadness shed on Matchday 36 of the season. Here we salute the heroes who grabbed the headlines.

1. Josh COHEN (Los Blancos) - "consistent heroics in goal but also ending the final game with a goal and assist. Not many keepers can rack up those stats"

2. Russell BRILL (Chigwell Athletic) - star man in the win that ended Glenthorne's title hopes

3. Adam OSPER (Southgate Harmen) - man-of-the-match against Faithfold B, Mr Reliable had one of his best games in a black and white shirt. He even managed a nut meg, pure class

4. Danny NEWMAN (Jerusalem) - a rock that stopped England FC getting their hands on the double

5. Dave PRESTON (Jerusalem) - his partnership alongside Danny Newman was like Hansen and Lawro

6. Alex BULL (Southgate Harmen) - put in a real shift and is a real favourite of outgoing manager Dan Uzan

7. Ben MURRELL (Southgate Harmen) - "an incredible performance and a really special hat-trick" against Faithfold

8. Gav COHEN (Jerusalem) - an energetic performance in the Olim Cup final where controlled the midfield against league champions England FC

9. Josh CAPLIN (Los Blancos) - "controlled the central midfield area and picked the perfect passes to start another LB attack" against Norstar B

10. Dean BEN YOSEF (Chigwell Athletic) - finished the season in top form and manager Richard Slater must surely give him a contract extension now ...

11. Adam ARNOLD (London Maccabi Lions) - four-goal hero helped the Lions finish joint-winners of the Watford Friendly League title

CHIGWELL ATHLETIC 2 GLENTHORNE UNITED A 1
Glenthorne United's promotion hopes suffered a blow as they were beaten 2-1 by local rivals Chigwell Athletic at the Met Police Sports Ground.
Two wonder free-kicks from Paul Hizer did the trick for Chigwell.
Fabio Rivieccio scored for Glenthorne who were unable to repeat last week's 2-1 win over Richard Slater's men.
And to make matters worse, Glenthorne had Adam Shafron and Jake Barnett dismissed - both last men on seperate occasions.
Chigwell player-manager Richard Slater told JC Sport: "We were the better side overall and deserved the win. We started the game with quick tempo, but yet again we wernt clinical enough in front of goal for the amount of chances we missed.
"They had a 15-minute spell in second half after their goal, but thankfully we put the game to bed and ended our season with a win."
Glenthorne boss Sam Rosenthal told JC Sport: "We 'can't argue with the sending off's but we still had the chances to win the game, even when we went down to nine men.
"Credit to the boys for a great season, shame that teams pulling out and forfeiting games have decided our fate in the league."

Six-hitting Harmen give Uzan perfect send-off

JC MSFL DIVISION ONE
FAITHFOLD B 0 SOUTHGATE HARMEN 6

A stunning hat-trick from BEN MURRELL saw Southgate Harmen finish the season on a high after hitting Faithfold B for six to register their eighth win of the season.

Further strikes from Sam Castle, Alex Bull and Josh Franklin ensured outgoing manager Dan Uzan received the perfect send-off.

An emotional Uzan told JC Sport: "Sunday was the perfect send-off. After five seasons, it was my last game in charge and we came up against a tough Faithfold side, with a few Premiership players in the squad. We scored six and kept a clean sheet, I couldn't have asked for any more.

"I feel happy and in some ways relieved that I am leaving behind a great squad that will push on under new management and take this club back to the Premier League.

"The last five years at Harmen have been incredible. It's a special club that was set up by Jon Hirshler, Marc Cohen and Simon Lyons 12 years ago. I have tried my best to keep the team together, to keep them challenging, and most improtantly to have a squad of players we could be proud of.

"It has been humbling working with Stuart Cohen, who is the heartbeat of Southgate Harmen. Big Stu runs the club the way every club should be run, and he knows that he and Harmen can rely on me whenever they need.

"Thank you to all the players I have managed over the last five years, and everyone involved at the club."

Brilliant Blancos are going up

JC MSFL DIVISION TWO
NORSTAR B 1 LOS BLANCOS 5

Los Blancos clinched promotion to Division One with, goalkeeper Josh Cohen marking his last game for the club with a goal from the penalty spot.

Further strikes from Joel Kutner, Benjy Israel and a double from player-manager Adam Hersh saw them pip SPEC FC to the runners-up spot.

There was a nervous atmosphere around John Lyon School Playing Fields as Los Blancos looked for one final win to secure promotion to Division One in front of super sponsors Cohen Arnold chartered accountants (for all your accounting needs!)

The nerves showed as Norstar started the brighter and had the first chance. A header from a corner was destined for the roof of the net until Josh Cohen, in his last Blancos appearance, intervened with his fingertips to tip over the bar.

The rest of the half was dominated by Blancos but no clear chances were made. Aryeh Marks scored with a fantastic 'hand of g-d' replica but was correctly booked and the goal ruled out.

The second half was a different story. Los Blancos were not prepared to fall at the final hurdle and stepped up a gear. Midfield duo Josh Caplin and Adam Waters were running the Norstar midfield ragged and it wasn't long before Kutner brilliantly beat his man on the left of the area before firing across the keeper into the far corner.

Sami Birnbaum was brought down after a surging run into the box. As a reward for dedicated service Josh Cohen stepped up to score straight down the middle in his first ever MSFL goal.

Norstar got themselves deservedly back into the game almost instantly and at 2-1 Blancos had to fight. Hersh, chasing the golden boot, used pace power and panache to beat the stars backline and take it past the keeper for 3-1.

At 3-1 Norstar hit bar and post in a goalmouth scramble, but Blancos survived and didn't look back. Hersh added another equally well taken goal for 4-1 and had chances to grab his hat-trick. Substitute Benjy Israel used all of his fresh legs to run from midfield, beating four men, rounding the keeper and slotting home in goal of the week/season contender!

5-1 was the final score and with champagne flowing Blancos have been promoted to Division One.

Blancos boss Adam Hersh told JC Sport: "We started a little nervously but as we got into the game we started to totally dominate and all that was lacking was a goal to kick us on to a comfortable victory.

"This season has been a very satisfying one with many predicting a mid-table finish at best for LB. We have played some excellent football and fully deserve our promotion spot. Commiserations to SPEC who pushed us all the way."

"It is sad to see some of the Los Blancos founding members moving on to bigger and better things. Josh Cohen, who has been Mr consistent between the sticks and has been one of the top goalkeepers to grace the MSFL for many years. His performances have literally won us games and he will be missed and we wish him much luck when he makes Aliyah in the summer.

"Also to our first club captain Dovid Greenberg who has been a mature head in the changing room and always encouraging to younger members of the squad."

Blancos' Joel Minsky told JC Sport: "It was a cagey first half, but Blancos class told in second. We're promoted to Division 1 at first time of asking."

CHIGWELL SEE OFF NINE MAN THORNES
CHIGWELL ATHLETIC 2 GLENTHORNE UNITED A 1
Glenthorne United's title hopes suffered a fatal blow as they were beaten 2-1 by local rivals Chigwell Athletic at the Met Police Sports Ground.

Photos to follow ...

An emotional Uzan told JC Sport: "The last five years at Harmen have been incredible. It's a special club that was set up by Jon Hirshler, Marc Cohen and Simon Lyons 12 years ago. I have tried my best to keep the team together, to keep them challenging, and most improtantly to have a squad of players we could be proud of."

DANNY CARO'S QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Adam Hersh (Blancos) - "It is sad to see some of the Los Blancos founding members moving on to bigger and better things. His performances have literally won us games and he will be missed and we wish him much luck when he makes Aliyah in the summer"

CHIGWELL SEE OFF NINE MAN THORNES
CHIGWELL ATHLETIC 2 GLENTHORNE UNITED A 1
Glenthorne United's title hopes suffered a fatal blow as they were beaten 2-1 by local rivals Chigwell Athletic at the Met Police Sports Ground.

HARMEN SHOW OFF THEIR SIX PACKS
FAITHFOLD B 0 SOUTHGATE HARMEN 6
A stunning hat-trick from BEN MURRELL saw Southgate Harmen finish the season on a high after hitting Faithfold B for six to register their eighth win of the season.
Further strikes from Sam Castle, Alex Bull and Josh Franklin ensured outgoing manager Dan Uzan received the perfect send-off.

WINNER: Jamie Kyte (Lions B) - "I think today's games, across the league, show why the MSFL Division One is so special.
CHIGWELL ATHLETIC vs GLENTHORNE UNITED A
Dan Lassman was Glenthorne’s matchwinner in last weekend’s derby win that finally put daylight between his team and Shirley Park, and he will be looking to shoot down local rivals Chigwell in the team’s final game of the season, a win that they hope will land them the title.

Indeed Glenthorne will hope that local rivals Woodford Wanderers can do them a massive favour and take points off Camden Park in a double-header, but they have a match to win first.

Glenthorne bossed the first half against Chigwell last weekend, but manager Sam Rosenthal was concerned that his old club enjoyed large chunks of possession and left Glenthorne fans biting their nails up to the final whistle.

Ahead to kick-off, Rosenthal told JC Sport: "We're looking forward to another battle. We were pleased to have secured local bragging rights in the league last week and anything else we can get out of Sunday will top off a brilliant 1st year in Division One.

"All credit to the boys, we will go out and enjoy ourselves Sunday come what may."

The top four teams in the division have been the model of consistency, but the same can’t be said of Chigwell. Player-manager Richard Slater started the season in confident mood that he had the players to challenge for a top two finish.

Maccabiah training sessions have meant they haven’t always been at full-strength, but Slater this week offered no excuses for his team’s failure to become serious promotion challengers.

Ahead of the game, he told JC Sport: “It’s been a disappointing end to the season, but hopefully we can finish with a win, although we’re slightly low on numbers for our final game.”

CAMDEN PARK vs WOODFORD WANDERERS (DOUBLE-HEADER)
I’m sure there’ll be a drink or two on the line at Faces if Woodford can take points off Camden Park on Sunday.

Leaders Glenthorne are praying their east London rivals will look to make life difficult for a Camden team gunning for the title.

It’s squeaky bum time for Camden right now, with Josh Marks’ troops having dropped points against Harmen last weekend.

They were denied maximum points by a keeper in top form in James Castle and Marks hopes his players find their shooting boots in what are two must-win games.

Guy Marks and Jake Saunders earned Camden a point last weekend, and back-to-back wins on Sunday would lift them two places, guaranteeing a top three finish.

Camden have named a full-strength team for Sunday’s marathon, with Marks telling JC Sport: “There’s a real urgency for the six ponts this weekend.”

Woodford were down to the bare bones in the latter stages against Hendon last Sunday and Marks hopes this is a good omen. They led 2-0 but injuries forced them to finish with just nine men.

Camden have only lost twice at home this season, to Glenthorne and Lions and, as long as they hold their nerve, I’d back them to do just enough in both games, but it’s crucial they play the game rather than the occasion.

Venue – Ark Academy, Ref – Tony McEvoy, KO – 10am

FAITHFOLD B vs SOUTHGATE HARMEN
There’s a real feel-good-factor about Harmen at the minute and I’m backing Dan Uzan’s men to finish the season in style against relegated Faithfold B.

James Castle was the star of the show against title-chasing Camden Park last weekend. He produced some top quality saves to earn his team a point in a four-goal thriller. Wing wizard Alex Bull and the evergreen Adam Osper also caught the eye against one of the division’s fancied teams.

The Castles have shown real star qualities since moving to Ashmole and the Harmen heroes will be looking to give keeper James the perfect send-off before he prepares to represent Team GB at the 19th Maccabiah Games.

This has been another steep learning curve for everyone at Faithfold B. Keeper Grant Waissel has needed to be in top form, while Leor Harel has impressed once more. Assistant-manager Ben Lewis believes this is a result of training with the club’s double-winning first team.

Dan Harris has also earned some rave reviews and manager Rob Shooman will face another battle trying to keep hold of him once the summer transfer window opens.

Harmen executed their game-plan to perfection against Camden, and I can see them having too much for Faithfold on the day.

I caught up with Hersh earlier in the week and this is what he told JC Sport. “It’s a massive game on Sunday where we hope to end our season on a high and claim a well earned second place.

“The excitement building up to the match is running through the whole squad resulting in nearly a full squad of 18 players making themselves available.

“A win is the target and if our pride, passion and determination is anything to go by then come 12:30 on Sunday the celebrations will be very much underway.”

But any Blancos fans expecting Norstar just to roll over and have their bellies tickled can think again. The Stars are much-improved from the first meeting, and in striker Rob Blackman they have a player who can really hurt them and potentially ruin their promotion party.

Plus, A-team boss and club chairman Phil Peters is also in contention to feature following his wonder goal against Raiders last weekend. He made the headlines for all sorts of reasons last weekend and knowing him as I do, will demand that standards are sky high for the club’s last-ever game in the JC MSFL before the merger with Raiders.

Glenthorne go into the game nice and fresh and I expect them to finish an excellent campaign in style.

Whatever the outcome, it’s fair to say that tears will be shed on Sunday as Blancos keeper Josh Cohen bids farewell to the JC MSFL. Cohen has enjoyed an outstanding final season in goal for the club and no doubt, he’ll be determined to bow out on a high.
Blancos boss Adam Hersh was the hat-trick hero in the first meeting between the teams this season, as the boys in white romped home 8-0. There were also goals for Mikey Mendelsohn, Aryeh Marks, Sami Birnbaum, Adam Waters and Joel Kutner.
Hersh and Kutner were on target again in last weekend’s 4-2 win over FC Team B, and now they are just 90 minutes away from cementing Division One football next season.
