Pears powers GB to first gold at EMG

Trevor Pears won Team Maccabi GB’s first gold of the European Maccabi Games in Berlin on day one of the swimming competition when the British delegation registered a sensational 14-medal haul in the pool.


Warner wins final warm-up race ahead of World Champs

Adam Warner completed his preparations for the Fina Masters World Championships in Russia by winning a 3k in Marlow.

The 2013 Maccabiah Games star made a flying start on the 1,500m circuit that the swimmers completed twice. He was soon caught up by two members of the chasing pack and he eased up slightly to sit behind them and conserve his energy.


Hinawi makes a splash in Baku

Marc Hinawi claimed Israel's eighth medal of what is proving to be a hugely success European Games for the nation after impressing in the pool in Baku.

Hinawi registered a new personal best time of 15:25 in the final of the 1,500m after finishing third.

Reflecting on his time, which was also a junior national record, Hinawi admitted he had mixed emotions about the race.


Rosh Pinah top of the class again

Rosh Pinah made a splash at the Maccabi GB Simchat Ha’mayim Swimming Gala - winning three out of four categories, including Overall Winning School.

The Edgware school maintained their grip on the title at Barnet Copthall Swimming Pool in Mill Hill, registering their third success in as many years.


Warner on track for world championships

Adam Warner took overall silver at the first open water competition of the season.

Warner won his age group in the 3K race at Dorney Lake.

He said: "I'm very happy with my performance and believe I can only get stronger.

"My aim for this year is the Masters World Championships in Russia in August. I have three more preparation open-water meets before the competition begins."


Pool queen Halter considers retirement

Susan Halter is considering retiring from international competition after medalling at the South East Masters and Senior age group long course event in Crawley.

With no opposition in her category, the former Olympian, aged 87, won gold in both the 50m and 100 backstroke races.


Flying start for GB at JCC Games

Team Maccabi GB got straight down to business in Cherry Hill, New Jersey at the JCC Maccabi Games 2014 with 17 medals including four gold, nine silver and four bronze on the first day.

And the medals kept pouring in on day two with the delegation winning an incredible 46 across all sports.


Israel on medal hunt at Euro swimming finals

Israel are sending 15 athletes to next week’s European Swimming Championships in Berlin.

Jonatan Kopelev and Guy Barnea offer the best medal hopes in the 50m backstroke, along with Yaakov Tomarkin (100m and 200m back), Guy Nevo (200m medley) and Amit Ivri (50m and 100m breast).


Warner top of the docks

Adam Warner won the 3k race at the London Region Open Water Championships at Surrey Docks.

Fresh from his silver medal at the Brighton Pier to Pier race last week, Warner was one of the first into the water and made his way to the front before making a decisive burst to the finish line on the six-lap, 500m circuit.

Warner said: "This sets me up nicely for the Nationals in Sheffield."
