The big day has finally arrived. Airport-bound from London to Rio with my microphone in hand. I have the nerves and excitement of an athlete about to compete in the Olympics, but for me reporting on this is an equal dream.

Dudi Sela insists he has nothing to prove ahead of his first Olympic Games.

Sela, 31, missed the cut for the last two Olympics, including a well-publicised falling out with Israeli officials ahead of the London Games four years ago. But he is confident of impressing in Rio next month.

Israel to send record delegation to Rio 2016

Israeli officials have confirmed that the delegation will send its largest-ever squad to an Olympic Games this summer.

The group competing in Rio will surpass the 37 athletes who represented Israel across eight sports at the London 2012 games, as well as the 43 representatives in 11 sports that competed in Beijing four years earlier.


Nevo secures silver at European Swimming Championships

Olympic-bound Gal Nevo claimed silver at the European Swimming Championships in London.

Nevo, who has already qualified for Rio 2016, touched home in 1:59:69 after a strong finish in the 200m individual medley final.

The 28-year-old Israel is also scheduled to compete in the 400m IM later this week.


Joy for Israel at Gymnastics World Cup

Israel's rhythmic gymnastics team won a gold and two silver medals at the World Cup in Espoo, Finland.

Yuval Filo, Alona Koshevatskiy, Ekaterina Levina, Karina Lykhvar and Ida Mayrin won gold in the hoops and clubs competition and silver in both the all-round and ribbons events.

The previous week the team had won two bronze medals in the Moscow Grand Prix.
