Team GB Maccabiah tennis squad announced

Team GB will take a 20-man tennis squad to Israel for the 19th Maccabiah Games in Israel.

Chaired by Jan Feldman, the junior squad features previous medal winners, tournament finalists and ranked players. ITF national ranked starlet Joshua Paris will captain the junior squad which also features Aegon Schools team national finalists Max Benaim and Gabriel Freedman.

Weiner to captain Australian cricket team

Julien Weiner will captain Australia’s Open cricket squad at July’s Maccabiah Games.

Taking part in his fourth Games, Weiner will lead a 13-man delegation and is one of eight players selected from Maccabi AJAX CC. David Gelbart of Bentleigh CC has been named vice-captain.


USA names Maccabiah Open Equestrian team

Maccabi USA have selected its Open Equestrian team for the 19th World Maccabiah Games in Israel in July.


2013 is all about the Maccabiah

It's virtually impossible to follow a year like 2012 on the sporting front, but quite clearly, the main focus in Jewish terms will be the 19th Maccabiah Games in Israel.

A number of my ones to watch in 2013 will be lining up for what is expected to be a star-studded event, kicking-off at Jerusalem’s Teddy Stadium in July.


Bronze for Warner

Adam Warner claimed a medal his first short-course competition of the season.

Warner, who will represent Team GB at next summer’s Maccabiah Games, took bronze in the 1,500m race and set a new personal best at the London Region Winter Championships at Barnet Copthall in north-west London.


Warning: Pollock’s young guns can take the world by storm

It would be foolish to label Team GB favourites to win the Open football competition at the 19th Maccabiah Games at this stage, but I’m genuinely excited by David Pollock’s squad. There’s a strong nucleus of top-level Jewish footballers, with a nice blend of youth and experience. And there is a strong emphasis on the future too.


Australia to bring out the big guns

First-class cricketers Michael Klinger and Julian Weiner look set to line-up against Team GB at next year’s Maccabiah Games in Israel.

With trials ongoing for the Australia Maccabi squad, Klinger has stated his intention to compete at the Games, as long as he is not selected to play for Australia in the Ashes series.


We have unfinished business, says Pollock

David Pollock says Team GB has unfinished business to attend to after naming an 18-man squad for next year’s Maccabiah Games in Israel.

The Men’s Open football manager has opted to blend youth with experience after selecting nine of the players who represented GB at the 2009 event, where GB took silver after losing in the final on a penalty shoot-out against Argentina.


Jaffe and Nystrom to lead US Ice Hockey bid

Team USA have named William (Billy) Jaffe and Eric Nystrom as Head Coach and Assistant Coach for the USA Team Ice Hockey squad competing at the 19th World Maccabiah Games in July 2013 in Israel.

Jaffe, an NHL Network analyst, and Nystrom, an NHL Dallas Stars player, were selected by co-chairs Phil Pulley and Devra Schorr.
