Best season yet for Beck

Laetitia Beck has completed an impressive season for Duke University, finishing with a career-best 73.16 stroke average.

The Israeli star claimed one top five finish, as well as four top 10 and eight top 20 finishes during the season. This included a second place finish at the ACC Championship and tied for 17th placement at the NCAA Championship.

Beck is a three-time All-ACC selection.

Dunham ladies top of the class

Dunham Forest Golf Club secured the main trophy at the 17th Ladies National Tournament, held at Moor Allerton Golf Club in Leeds.

Twelve teams featuring 84 players competed at the prestigious event, which is the only competition where ladies from Jewish Golf Clubs and Societies all over the UK and Ireland have a chance to compete with each other.


Brilliant Bohn is the king of Herts

Jeremy Bohn warmed up for this summer’s Maccabiah Games by winning the Herts Salver at Aldwickbury Park.

The Team GB captain, who is a member of Hartsbourne Golf Club, produced an excellent finish to edge out Luke Hynes of Porters Park.


Beck leads Duke home

Israel’s Laetitia Beck led the Blue Devils to victory at the ACC Women’s Golf Championships held at the Sedgefield Golf Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Born in Caesarea, Beck claimed her best finish on the circuit after claiming the individual runners-up spot as the competition’s third-ranked team Blue Devils retained the title.


Beck on top of her game in Arizona

Laetitia Beck helped Duke University Blue Devils finish in second place at the Ping/ASU Invitational at Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Arizona.

The Israeli player was tied for the individual lead after two rounds, but a final round of 75 saw her finish in eighth place with a score of 212, a seven-shot improvement on her best score.

Beck fired 12 birdies over the three days of competition.


Ryder Cup stars lead £40K drive for care home

There was a Ryder Cup flavour to the Jewish Care Pro-Am Golf Tournament at Dyrham Park, Herts, which raised £40,000 for the charity’s Rela Goldhill Lodge in Golders Green, supporting 20 people with severe physical and sensory disabilities.

Former European team members Paul Way and Paul Broadhurst were among the pros taking part, along with Jewish player Sam Little.


Brenner retain Abridge junior crown

Marc Brenner has retained the Abridge Junior Club Championships.

A member of the Team GB squad at the 2011 European Maccabi Games, Brenner, 16, enjoyed a successful spell by winning a gold medal at a PGA event in Los Angeles followed by silver in San Diego.


It's time for tee in Watford

Avid golfers among the Watford Synagogue membership who have been playing together socially on a regular basis have decided to put their sporting relationship on a more formal level by establishing the Wads Golf Society.

The group plays on Sunday mornings at Aldenham Golf Club and other local venues. It would welcome new members, including players who are not members of the shul.


Curtis wins National Scratch Competition

Ricky Curtis booked his place in the Team GB squad for next year’s Maccabiah Games in Israel after winning the National Scratch Competition in Birmingham.

Curtis, of Abridge Golf Club, held off the challenge of a high-class field and was crowned as the champion Jewish male golfer in a tournament co-hosted by Maccabi GB and the Association of Jewish Golf Clubs & Societies.
