Garcia returns to Maccabi TA

Oscar Garcia has been appointed Maccabi Tel Aviv manager just 12 months after leaving the club that he led to the Ligat Ha'Al title.

Garcia replaces Paulo Sousa who recently took charge at Basle after helping Maccabi win back-to-back titles.

Garcia has signed a two-year deal worth €1 million and has been promised that the team will be strengthened ahead of the Champions League campaign.

A 65th-minute replacement for Eran Zahavi, Benayoun received a warm welcome from the 100,000 crowd at Estadio Azteca.

The 41-year-old is reportedly the preferred choice of the board and he would bring real estate plans to the table with his bid, including building a shopping centre on the car park at Madejski Stadium.

Wingate & Finchley granted a reprieve

The FA and the Ryman League today confirmed that Wingate & Finchley have been granted a reprieve from relegation and shall rejoin the Ryman Premier Division for season 2014/15.

This follows the resignation of Worksop Town last Friday from the Northern Premier League, which left one spare place at Step 3 which comes to the Blues as the highest ranked team on 'points-per-game'.

London Maccabi Lions under-15’s rounded off the season with a tour to Israel.

Manager Darren Dryer led the 11-player squad into an eight-team tournament at the American School in Even Yehuda.

The competition - organised each year by the Ben Dror family – is played in memory of former Israel national team player Israel Ben Dror.


Brilliant Brady U10s hit high fives

Brady Maccabi won the under-10 competition at hte Maccabi 5's in Mill Hill.

A team featuring Ben Tibber, Daniel Dutch, Jordan Smith, Freddie Martin, Taylor Rosen, Sam Meisel and Brandon Roach won all five group matches, including convincing wins over both Alyth teams and both Hendon (HIS) teams and their own Brady under-9’s.

The season is now over and the time has come to review. The terrible weather in mid-season spoilt the continuity for us all and some teams found it difficult to get back into the rhythm when it all resumed.
