Top table clash ends in disappointing draw for Faithfold

FaithFold A 2-2 Redbridge Jewish Care A

Daryl Phillips, the assistant-manager of Faithfold A, felt that poor finishing prevented the Superhoops from taking maximum points in the top of the table clash against title rivals Redbridge A.

In a game in which Faithfold hit the woodwork twice and had a goal disallowed, Phillips reflected: “We’re disappointed not to have three points as we had the better chances. It was a good game between two good sides.”

Keterman leads the way as NW Neasden go top

TJ Keterman (2), Jake Gottlieb and Scott Shindler eased them home in a top against bottom clash.

Adam Ellis (3), Oliver Tuch (2), Aaron Benjamin (2), Joel Baruch, George Goldberg, Samuel Leader, Josh Levy, Sol Schlagman and Daniel Kanfer eased HMH Purple to a 13-1 victory over Hendon Hawks in the Maccabi GB Primary League Under 13 Division. Joshua Resnick (3) and Jonathan Korn gave Hendon Hawks B Under 10s a 4-3 victory over Alyth Belsize.

Bloom signs Poyet as new Brighton manager

Brighton & Hove Albion chairman Tony Bloom has expressed delight over the appointment of Gus Poyet as the club’s new manager.

Bloom explained the decision-making behind the former Chelsea and Spurs midfielder’s appointment. He said: "When Russell Slade (the former manager) parted company with the football club just over a week ago we had a lot of applicants, a lot of very good ones, and I had a lot of work to do to make sure this football club found the right manager.

Marcelle Lazarus stands down from Accrington Stanley

Marcelle Lazarus has explained the reason behind her resignation as joint chairperson of Accrington Stanley.

Lazarus, 47, joined the club in July and played a key role in keeping the team’s afloat as they faced a race against time to pay an outstanding tax bill.

Currently recovering from swine flu, Lazarus, a mother of six from Whitefield, said: “It wasn’t what I thought it was going to be and enough is enough. I decided to walk away.

Manchester Maccabi beaten again

Manchester Maccabi 1st suffered their second consecutive defeat, going down 3-2 against Charlestown.

In the only game in all five divisions of the Eccles League to survive the heavy rain the North West had experienced in the previous week, Maccabi , for the second week in a row finished losers after playing the better football and creating more chances than their opponents.

Maccabi Masters football review

Faithfold won the basement battle in Division One of the Maccabi Masters League, thumping fellow strugglers South Mancunians 8-3. Danny Goldman (4), Joel Nathan (2), Russell Rich and Jason Levy were the marksmen for Faithfold. Mark Klinger, who recently joined Manx from Faithfold, bagged a brace with Darren Coon grabbing the other.

Norstar maintained their unbeaten run in Division Two. They lead EDRS Stonegrove at the top after thumping Ashlodge 4-0 with goals from Steve Feiger (2), Paul Marco and Simon Lawrence.

Razor Resnick lifts the Hawks

A hat-trick from Joshua Resnick enabled Hendon Hawks B to climb off the foot of the Under 10 table with a 4-3 victory over Alyth Belsize in Edgware in the Maccabi GB Primary Football League.

The Hawks dominated throughout with an early strike as Resnick beat the Alyth goalkeeper with a shot that nestled in the bottom left hand corner.

Showing great intent, it was not long before the lead was extended courtesy of Jonathan Korn, who was on hand to tap home at the near post.

Rob Lerner came back to haunt his old club as he booked Brady Maccabi a place in the second round of the JC League Cup with a 2-1 victory over North West Neasden B.

Eli Houri (4), Jeremy Elster (3) and player-manager Phil Peters (2) steered UJS Norstar A to a 9-0 drubbing of HMH.

A hat-trick from Paul Lenchner lifted Faithfold A to second in the JC MSFL Premier Division following a 4-0 victory over Hendon United B. Substitute Daniel Stock was also on target.
