Lee bows out as South Manchester are confirmed as champions

South Manchester Sports 1st team have been confirmed as champions of the Premier Division of the Manchester Accountants League.

Managed by Darryl Lee, their title celebrations got under way after nearest rivals Mace forfeited their final match, leaving South winners by six points and an 18-goal margin.


Grant leaves Partizan Belgrade

Avram Grant has stepped down as manager of Partizan Belgrade after just five months in the hotseat.

The Israel steered the team to the Serbian Premier League title but his agent, Pini Zahavi, revealed that he is leaving the club despite signing an 18-month contract in January.

“Grant has had other offers and I recommended that he leave," said Zahavi.


Rackind helps Brady U11's over the line

Brady Maccabi Blue won the U11 league after drawing 2-2 against HIS Blue.

Brady went into the title-decider needing to avoid defeat to win the championship and it needed a superb free-kick from Tom Rackind to earn them a point in a game they trailed in. Top-scorer Matthew Grabski was the other scorer.


Challenge Trophy success for AC Whetstone U15s

AC Whetstone, last year’s under-14 Maccabi League and cup double winners, claimed another piece of silverware this year after winning the Watford Friendly League under-15 Challenge Trophy at Harvesters FC.

Managed by Clive Nathan and Anthony Cohen, the team have adapted and performed well in this league and beat Edson Youth 3-1 in the final.

Manchester Maccabi 1st brought down the curtain on their season with a fine 4-1 victory over March Hare FC.

Josh Hayes scored twice, while young goal prodigy Jake Kelly marked his full debut with a fine effort as Maccabi sealed seventh place in Division Two of the Tameside League.

Broughton had failed to secure victory in any of their 17 league games before sneaking past Crumpsall 1-0 to gain three priceless points.

Sydney Fulda’s men are three points behind Leeds Maccabi 3rd, who held Republic of Mancunia 1st to a 2-2 draw.


Glenthorne B crowned Masters Division Two champions

Glenthorne United B are the new champions of the Maccabi Masters Division Two after a 2-0 win over Brady Maccabi B that gives them an unassailable lead at the top of the table.

Gary Adams set Glenthorne on the road to victory before midfield dynamo Trevor Granger put the seal on the title with a header after Adam Hart’s free kick had hit the bar.
