Republic of Mancunia moved to within three points of top spot after thumping Sporting JLGB 6-2 in the Joan Collins Premier Division. Olly Basger (2), Jonny Lewis, Ben Blackston, Paul Basger and Darren Loofe were their scorers.

Josh Karpf, Oli Grant and David Cohen struck as Leeds J-New Uni beat Crumpsall. Sam Bentwood (4) and Daniel Cohen (3), Jake Glbert (2) and Ben Horn eased Oakhill Lions to a 10-0 success against Westdene 2nd. Daniel Linton and Ben Byer earned South Manchester Maccabi 2nd a point against Manchester Maccabi 3rd. Marc Sheldon and Greg Louca replied.

Tony Adams to speak at Finchley star's testimonial

Football Wingate & Finchley defender Craig Ellis will be welcoming former Arsenal and England star Tony Adams to the Abrahams Stadium next month.

A star of last year's Maccabi Games, Ellis, who has been at the club for 13 years, is holding a testimonial dinner on March 7 and Adams will be guest speaker.

A club spokesman said: "Craig epitomises Wingate & Finchley. As a captain, a centre-half, the longest servant at the club and fanatical Arsenal fan, Tony Adams is the perfect guest of honour for this deserved tribute."

Roberto Donadoni set for Israel manager

Roberto Donadoni, the former Italy boss, is the frontrunner to take charge of Israel.

Donadoni, 46, who led Italy to the quarter-finals of Euro 96, has reportedly been offered a two-year contract worth €2 million with a €500,000 bonus if Israel reach the 2012 finals.

His most recent job was as manager of Napoli last season. As a player, he helped AC Milan win the Serie A five times and three Champions Leagues. He also played in two World Cups and was a losing finalist in 1994.

Maccabi Masters will face Glasgow after Lions win

Two goals from Nick Collins paved the way for the Maccabi Masters Select XI to beat London Maccabi Lions C and set up a clash against Glasgow Maccabi. Mark Wagman finished the job.

Masters boss Dan Collins praised an "excellent team performance against a very strong Lions side".

A hat-trick from Lloyd Becker steered Southgate Harmen A to an 8-4 win over Red Sea in the JC Cyril Anekstein Cup. Alex Bourne (2), Jonathan Hirshler, Grant Taylor and Alan Hart claimed the others.

Kennet joins Hapoel Bnei Lod on loan

Josh Kennet has joined Hapoel Bnei Lod from Maccabi Herzliya on a six-month deal.

Mill Hill born Kennet, whose contract with fellow Liga Leumit club Herzliya was due to expire this summer, rejected offers from two other Israeli clubs.

Josh's father, Eilon, who manages London Maccabi Lions A, said: "Unfortunately Josh has not had the best of luck with injuries this past year and has not played as many games as he would have liked.

"There will be an option for both Josh and Lod to look at extending the deal at the end of the campaign."

Avram Grant charged by FA

Portsmouth manager Avram Grant has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association after squaring up to a referee during a Premier League match on Tuesday night.

Infuriated by several decisions by ref Kevin Friend, the Israeli stormed on to the pitch at half time in the match against Sunderland.

Grant saw his team denied two penalty claims and have a player sent off. He was forced to watch the second half from the stands.

He has until next Thursday to respond to the charge, which will be heard by 5 March.

Faithfold shock win in Masters League Cup

A double from Russell Rich helped Faithfold cause the shock of the round as they beat London Maccabi Lions A in the Maccabi Masters Football League Cup.

It was a bad weekend all round for the Rowley Lane club as Lions B went down 2-0 against South Mancunians following strikes from Jonathan Chippeck and Darren Coon.

North London Raiders thumped Norstar Old Boys 10-2 with goals from Paul Herszaft (3), Jonny Summerfield (3), Ashley Davidson (2), Richard Sacks and Neville Roach. Paul Marco and Lee Cohen replied.

Redbridge JCC victory over Elite Youth

Goals from Jimmy Castle (3), Nathan Sollosi (3), Hayden Pitch, Dan Wright and Taylor Gershon earned Redbridge JCC a 9-4 victory over Elite Youth in the ELE Under 14 Premier Division. The win lifted RJCC back into the top three.

London Maccabi Lions Under 16s went top of the Watford Friendly League Red Division One with a 2-0 success over Limassol courtesy of goals from Charlie Cohen and Jordan Nathan.

Lions Under 10s thumped AC Finchley North 5-0 in the Watford Friendly League White Division with goals from Sam Martin (3), Oscar Cohen and Raphi Auret.

Redbridge out of County Cup

Goals from Steve Summers and Daniel Cooper did not prevent Redbridge Jewish Care A being eliminated from the County Cup as they lost 6-2 against Turkish outfit Yavruyatan at the quarter-final stage.

Mike Pearson (2), Yoav Lebens and Josh Morris kept London Maccabi Lions A top of the JC MSFL Premier Division after they thumped Hendon United B 4-0.

Second-placed Faithfold A saw off London Maccabi Lions B 4-0 with strikes from Benji Dymant (2), Daryl Phillips and Daniel Howard.

Hapoel face Kazan in Europa League

Hapoel Tel Aviv travel to Russia for next Thursday’s Europa League Round of 32 clash with Rubin Kazan confident of achieving a result.

Hapoel manager Eli Guttman said: “This is a very tough game against a team who beat Barcelona in the Champions League. That says it all. But I believe we can get at least a draw and return to Bloomfield with a good chance of progressing.”

Despite previously being informed that the match had been switched to southern Russia, Uefa has now told the Israelis that the game will go ahead in Kazan where temperatures of -10C are expected.
