Israel frustrated by Azerbaijan

Israel failed to get its 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign off to a winning start as they were held 1-1 in Azerbaijan on Friday.

Bibras Natcho put Israel ahead with a 30-yard scorcher five minutes after half time but Eli Guttman's troops were pegged back 15 minutes from time when Rusian Abisov capitalised on poor defending to haul the hosts back on level terms.

Kashket seals dream move to Spain

Wonder kid Scott Kashket has completed a dream move to Spanish team Hercules CF.

The youngster from Chigwell was one of the stars of the GB junior futsal team at last summer’s European Maccabi Games in Vienna. He was invited to join after one of the clips of him in action was seen by a scout from the Spanish club on the internet.

Furman: Bring on Brazil

Dean Furman has set his sights on playing for South Africa at next year’s African Nations Cup after being name in the squad to play a prestigious friendly against Brazil.

The Oldham Athletic captain flew to Sao Paolo to join his teammates following the 1-0 win at Portsmouth in League One.

“I'm delighted. It's an unbelievable opportunity for me to show what I can do,” Furman said.

Four Jewish boys played a crucial role as Wingate & Finchley U18's made an emphatic start to their FA Youth Cup campaign with a 12-1 preliminary round demolition of Ryman League rivals Bedfont Sports.

The signs of a one-sided game were ominous early on when Harry Robinson forced a good save from the Bedfont keeper after just three minutes and then hit the bar from the rebound.
