Sacks leads the raid on Faithfold
November 27, 2008
North London Raiders stretched their lead at the top of the Maccabi Masters League table with an emphatic 5-1 win over Faithfold. A hat-trick from player-manager Richard Sacks plus goals from Dean Schulberg and Paul Herszaft secured the points, taking them four points clear in Division One. Mark Klinger claimed Faithfold's consolation.

Temple Fortune A moved off the bottom as they recorded their first win in Masters football. Graham Meyer, Robert Botkai and James Ryan were on target in the 3-1 win over EDRS Stonegrove. Nigel Conway replied.

Lions charge

London Lions went clear at the top of the Herts Senior County League Premier Division after claiming a 4-1 win at Buntingford.

Two goals from Adam Stolerman, who became the division's top-scorer on 18, plus one apiece from Lee Cash and Ben Lampert took Lions three points clear.

Shai Revivo and Danny Schindler earned London Lions reserves a 2-1 win against Sarratt in the HSCL Reserve Division One.

Spurs starlet leads GB medal bid as first girls squad looks to impress

Spurs academy player Aimee Garsin-Rose is the most high profile selection in Team GB's 15-player girls Under 18 football squad for next year's Maccabiah Games Chai.

Managed by Laurence Thorne, the 2009 Games will feature a female GB football team for the first time.
The basis of the squad originates from a group who represented GB at the Detroit JCC Maccabi Games in August last year. Five other members represent Harvesters.

Students run riot

Leeds JNF J-Uni stormed 12 points clear at the top of the Joan Collins Premier Division after routing Sporting JLGB 12-0. Alex Hirschman (3), Josh Rubin (3), Jonathan Green (3), Daniel Henig, Paul Harris and Elliot Wallis were their marksmen.

The champions elect then drew 1-1 against last season's winners Roy's Rovers. Jonathan Green put Leeds ahead only for Leon Huller to equalise. Second-place Oakhill Lions were held 2-2 by Westdene 1st. Daniel Amram and Moishe Hasid scored for Oakhill. Josh Leviten and Daniel Cohen levelled things up for Westdene.

Neasden are the Bs knees

North West Neasden B remain on course to become the first Jewish team to win the London Junior Cup after reaching the last 16, following a penalty shootout win over Ergazi.

Stevie Krein, with his fifth in three games, Ryan Sher and Rob Lerner were Neasden's scorers in normal time. Neasden played extra time with 10 men and Adam Velleman, Nick Bord, Alex Bowman and Lerner converted from the spot to take them through.

Sahar: ‘I’ll go down to get back up’

Ben Sahar has resigned himself to playing in the Championship.

The Israeli marksman has suffered a stop-start career since joining Chelsea in 2006. Last season he was loaned to QPR and Sheffield Wednesday and after joining Portsmouth on a six-month loan deal in July, he has been kicking his heels in the reserves.
