Dean Furman has expressed his delight at being appointed the new captain of Oldham Athletic.

Midfielder Furman, 23, was given the armband by manager Paul Dickov after Reuben Hazell left the club.

And the former Rangers and Chelsea man says he can't wait to get going after being given the role for the new season.

Celtic swoop for Omer Damari

Celtic have agreed a three-year deal for Israeli striker Omer Damari.

Peter Lawwell, Celtic's chief executive, met Maccabi Petach Tikvah chairman Amos Luzon in London yesterday and agreed to pay the Ligat Ha'Al outfit £2 million for the 22-year-old striker.

Lawwell also discussed Damari's personal terms with the player's agent Dudu Dahan.

Zahavi joins Palermo

Hapoel Tel Aviv striker Eran Zahavi has signed a five-year deal with Serie A outfit Palermo.

The Israel international, 23, caught the eye during Hapoel's Champions League campaign last season.

Zahavi hit 27 goals in 91 League games for Hapoel and was had the most assist in Ligat Ha'Al last season.
