Delmonte: Everyone wants to beat us

Stuart Delmonte has warned his Manchester Maccabi 1st to expect an almighty battle to retain the Peter Morrison Trophy after declaring: “Everyone wants to beat us.”

Maccabi defeated Faithfold A on penalties in last season’s final at Oldham Athletic’s Boundary Park to seal a glorious day for Delmonte and co-manager Tony Rosenberg.

Domb calls for calm ahead of student derby

David Domb has urged his Hyde Park Rovers side to pull out all the stops in this week’s red-hot student clash with Oakhill Lions.

Leeds-based Rovers have won two of their opening three league games and have scored 14 goals in the process.

Rovers smashed six past Leeds Maccabi 3rd without reply last weekend and Domb wants more of the same against their Manchester rivals.

Manchester Maccabi boss Stuart Delmonte was left scratching his head after his side failed to run up a cricket score against Astley Arms.

Delmonte’s men smashed six past their lowly opponents with Jonny Quinn taking the plaudits following his stunning hat-trick.

Ian Selwyn paid tribute to his battling warriors as his 10-man Maccabi 1st emerged with a point from a hard-fought contest against Queenswood Social.

Dan Ross was sent off just after the break after receiving a second yellow card but Maccabi held out to claim a deserved draw.

Strikes from Craig Edwards and Dan Cohen condemned the Raiders to their fifth defeat as Mitch Young's claimed their second win of the season in a scrappy affair at Meadow Park.

Edwards put the hosts ahead following a great run and shot from Danny Moss which was parried by Raiders keeper Dan Cohen.

Stewart received 15 stitches after being caught in the face by Adam Boyars, who was sent off on his first start for the Merseysiders.

Special Kaye takes top award

Faithfold midfielder Alex Kaye is my Player of the Month for September.

Kaye, the former MJSL Player of the Season, has helped propel the Superhoops to the top of the Premier Division with some whole-hearted displays in the midfield engine room.

He has also chipped in with three goals in his bid to lead the team to silverware this season.
