Rosenberg salutes Maccabi heroes

Tony Rosenberg hailed his Manchester Maccabi 1st battlers after they crashed out of the Manchester FA Sunday Cup in heartbreaking fashion.

A goal six minutes from time was enough to give Trafford FC of the Altrincham Sunday League Premier Division a place in the next round and kill off Maccabi’s hopes.

Leeds Maccabi 1st boss Ian Selwyn paid tribute to his players after they took league leaders Waggon Athletic to the wire on Sunday.

Maccabi produced one of their most impressive performances of the season against the unbeaten table-toppers but somehow failed to take a deserved point from the contest.

The Cats won a seven-goal thriller at Norsemen FC thanks to doubles from Joel Isaacs and Joel Berwitz.

They marched into a 4-1 lead before the Raiders set up a grandstand finish but the Cats held on.

Raiders' goals came through Ben Hart, Matt Keston and an own goal.

London Lions managed to do in the cup what they struggled to do last year in the league, beat a well-organised and talented Oakwood team.

Last year Lions could only manage a draw and a loss against the Os, but this year, with a few fresh faces, they managed to get a convincing win under their belts.
