Hapoel Kiryat Shmona secured their place in the Champions League play-offs following a hard-fought battle against Neftci.

Leading 4-0 from last week’s first leg, Hapoel grabbed a 91st minute equaliser to claim a 2-2 draw and leave them dreaming of the Group Stage.


Swansea want Shechter

Israel star Itay Shechter is set to sign for Premier League side Swansea City on a season-long loan deal.

The 25-year-old, who currently plays in Germany with Kaiserslautern, watched the Swans defeat Blackpool 4-2 in their pre-season friendly last night.

Swansea boss Michael Laudrup has held talks with the player and is confident of obtaining a work permit for the striker.


Ben Haim defiant over Portsmouth future

The Israel defender, who has a year left on his £36,000 a week deal at Fratton Park, has yet to come to an agreement with the club’s administrators over his contract.
