Hapoel bow out on a high

Israel’s involvement in this season’s Europa League ended on a high as Hapoel Tel Aviv beat Legia Warsaw 2-0.

A goal in each half from Salim Toama and Avihay Yadin saw Hapoel run out worthy winners in a game missed by manager Dror Kashtan, due to a family bereavement.

The win saw Hapoel finish third in Group C, two points behind Legia.

Hendon will bounce back from this hammer blow, says Garbacz

David Garbacz, the manager of Hendon United Sports Club A, was left scratching his head after his team saw their quadruple hopes crushed in a 7-1 defeat by Lapton FC in the London FA Sunday Intermediate Cup.

A strike from Danny Kon proved little more than consolation as the JC MSFL table-toppers were beaten for only the second time this season.

Lions exit Herts Cup

Tony Gold, the manager of London Lions, was proud of his team as the holders bowed out of the Herts Centenary Cup at the quarter-final stage, going down 3-2 at London Colney.

The Lions dominated possession in a game they came from behind to lead 2-1 before Colney hit back late on.

Good work from Dean Nyman and Matt Stock set up Andy Glynne for the equaliser.

Brady boys in top gear

Strikes from Jonathan Cohen, David Rose, Laurence Myers and Mark Wagman took league leaders Brady Maccabi A seven points clear following a 4-2 victory over Faithfold in Division One.

Joel Nathan and Clive Nathan replied.

North London Raiders consolidated in second place with Ashley Davidson (2) and Serge Cowan on target in a 3-1 success over Scrabble.

Domb states his case for the defence

Hyde Park boss David Domb has warned his players they must cut out their defensive errors following an almighty scare against Leeds Maccabi 3rd.

Domb's men led 4-0 before 10 minutes of madness allowed Maccabi to score three times without reply.

Rovers hit back with Oli Grant completing his hat-trick to seal the win 6-3, but Domb was far from happy.

Haifa crash out of Europa League

Maccabi Haifa crashed out of the Europa League after going down 3-0 at home to Schalke in their final match in Group J.

Needing a win to guarantee qualification into the round of 32, Yaniv Katan, the former West Ham striker, had a penalty saved with the Israelis trailing by a goal and their fate was settled with Steua Bucharest beat Larnaca 3-1 to pip them to second place.
