End of season 2015/16 review

The season commenced with 32 teams but within the first few weeks London Rovers (Division One) dropped out. Just before the year end there was another casualty with the demise of Faithfold A, reducing the numbers to 30.

This prompted the Management Committee to call a special meeting to address the situation and find ways to promote the league and increase participation.

There were concerns that North London Raiders A would suffer second-season syndrome but if anything they stepped it up again this season as they completed the double-double in style. However, the coveted Jewish FA Cup still eludes them after Hendon United maintained their grip on the national trophy.

Ben Chernoff was the match-winner as Redbridge Jewish Care brought down the curtain on the football season with victory in the Invitational Trophy final.

On a warm day at Silver Jubilee Park, youth conquered experience, with the MGBSFL first division side clinching silverware.

Myer ready to splash cash to improve MJSL

BRIAN Meyer says the MJSL are prepared to dip into their own pockets to avoid another fixture pile-up next season.

The league’s bosses are considering playing at least one cup competition on 3G pitches in midweek.

It follows on from them taking emergency measures to ensure this season’s MJSL season did not extend into June.

South Manchester 1st team to play in Chesman League next season

Jonny Davis admits South Manchester Sports Club’s first team are relishing a new challenge after changing league.

South Manchester have been represented in the Manchester Accountants League for over 30 years and first lifted the trophy in 2005, under the management of club legend Andrew Cohen and Vice-Chairman, Neil Collins.
