Marciano joins Hibs on loan from FC Ashdod

Ofir Marciano has signed a season-long loan deal with Hibernian.

The Israel No. 1 is awaiting a work permit ahead of his move from FC Ashdod.

Marciano, 26, played in goal for Israel throughout the failed Euro 2016 qualifying campaign and has previously played for Royal Excel Mouscron.


Wingate & Finchley to rename ground after co-founder Maurice Rebak

Wingate & Finchley are renaming their stadium at Summers Lane after co-founder Maurice Rebak.

A ceremony will take place on August 6 ahead of the home friendly against Aveley to commemorate the club’s former chairman, secretary and treasurer who passed away in February, aged 95. The ground will become the Maurice Rebak Stadium.


Israeli teams impress in European competitions

Maccabi Tel Aviv and Beitar Jerusalem remain on course to reach the Europa League playoffs following encouraging results in the latest round of qualifiers on Thursday night.

An excellent solo effort from Tal Ben Haim inside the first 10 minutes set them up for a 3-1 victory over Pandurii.

The Israeli international beat his marker before placing a clever lob into the net.


League increases to 34 teams for season 2016/17

The new MGBSFL season will kick off on September 11 with 34 teams, it was confirmed at a meeting last night.

A total of 32 teams finished last season and an increased number will line-up with the three division league.

Ten teams will battle it out for glory in the Premier Division, while 12 sides will contest divisions one and two.


Beitar and Tel Aviv progress in Europa League

There were mixed emotions for Israeli clubs in the second qualifying round of Europa League qualifying matches as Beitar Jerusalem and Maccabi Tel Aviv progressed, but Maccabi Haifa tumbled out.

A first-half double from Omer Atzily sent Beitar through, in a game they went on to lose 3-2 against Omonia.


Cruyff departure a major blow for Maccabi Tel Aviv

JORDI Cruyff, the director of football at Maccabi Tel Aviv, is set to leave the club at the end of August, according to reports in Israel.

Cruyff had been in talks over a switch to Premier League Everton, but was only the second choice behind Leicester assistant-manager Steve Walsh.

Hapoel Beer Sheva will face Greek champions Olympiacos is they can complete the job and beat Sheriff Tiraspol in the second qualifying round of the Champions League.

Hapoel were forced to come from a goal down to beat Sheriff in Israel this week, with goals from John Ogu, Elyaniv Barda and Maharan Radi earning them a 3-2 victory in the first leg.


Radi late show gives Hapoel victory on Champions League debut

Cliff Crown delighted by EFL Board appointment

Crown, who is chairman of Brentford, becomes the third Championship representative. EFL chairman Ian Lenagan said: “Cliff brings a wealth of expertise to this role and it gives me great pleasure to welcome him on to the EFL Board.”
