Stevens has given Maccabi a new dimension, says Gellman

Tony Gellman saluted two-goal hero Adam Stevens after firing Manchester Maccabi 1st into the third round of the County Cup.

The Accounts Premier League leaders edged out the Northern Quarter 3-2. Stevens (2) and Grant were on target at Chorlton Sports Club.

Ex-AFC Flixton midfielder Stevens caught the eye with a scissor kick before a long-range thunderbolt sealed the win.

DAVID SELIGMAN believes MJSL chiefs must take a share of the blame for Heaton Park Rovers’ points deduction.

HPR landed themselves in hot water for fielding ineligible players against South Manchester Sports 2nd last week.

Following a complaint, an investigation discovered four players were played under false names.


Haroldeans hit South Manchester for six

Jamie Harris led from the front with a brace as Haroldeans cruised past South Manchester Sports 3rd in the MJSL Joan Collins Premier Division.

Player-manager Harris, playing his first full game for a year, inspired the Merseysiders to a comfortable win.

Alastair Goldsmith, Adam Boyars, David Killey and Josh Roberts were also all on target in a 6-1 demolition.


Maccabi comeback leaves HPR feeling Blue

Heaton Park Rovers’ season went from bad to worse after they were left stunned by a second-half comeback Maccabi Manchester Blues in a 4-3 defeat in the MJSL Joan Collins Premier.

Jonathan Franks (2) and and James Lewis had the hosts cruising. But they tired visibly after the break and Maccabi Manchester Blue seized the initiative.
