Ian Selwyn’s men must defeat league leaders and reigning champions New Unicorn to have any chance of landing the Sunday Alliance crown.

The teams currently sit level on points at the top with Maccabi having played two games more.

Leeds Maccabi 1st missed a glorious opportunity to move level at the top of the Sunday Alliance Premier League after conceding a dramatic late equaliser.

Leading 2-1 against defending champions New Unicorn thanks to goals from Nick Vale and Jordan Marks, the current leaders hit back with just four minutes remaining to steal a point.

Republic of Flixton showed they mean business in this year’s Peter Morrison Trophy after dumping out MSFL side Chigwell Athletic in the National Round.

The MJSL league leaders were too hot to handle for the MSFL Division One side and moved through to the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Saul Shapiro and Rob Jacobs.


Crumspall 2nd withdraws from MJSL

Crumpsall 2nd has folded after revealing they could no longer field a team in the Manchester Jewish Soccer League.

MJSL secretary Paul Rose told the JC: "Crumpsall FC advised the MJSL that they could no longer field a second team even though they have over 40 players registered.

South, who are two points clear at the summit with eight games remaining, overcame Bowler 3-1 to maintain their advantage over nearest rivals Miam Miam.

MJSL round-up: January 6

Rob Jacobs inspired Republic of Flixton to another crushing victory with a five-goal haul against Crumpsall 1st.

Jacobs, who has scored 21 goals in the league so far this season, led the way with Adam Tauber and an own-goal completing the 7-0 rout.

Republic are now just a point off the top with two games in hand following Manchester Maccabi 2nd’s 1-1 draw with Haroldeans.
