Heaton Park Rovers hold a slender advantage heading into the Tony Cohen Cup quarter-final second-leg following this bad-tempered win over AFC Flixton.

Both sides were reduced to 10 men with HPR striker Jonathan Franks and AFC Flixton’s Simon Kaye handed their marching orders for violent conduct.

Game ends as Haroldeans walk off

Haroldeans could be in hot water after their Premier Division game against Maccabi Manchester 3rds ended in farce.

The Merseysiders face a probe from the Liverpool FA after forfeiting the game in protest at referee Adam Cohen.

Midfielder Paul Harris was sent off in the first half for dissent and the hosts took advantage with goals from Jason Hamburger and Leo Burger.

Oaks cry foul over Gilman goal

Oakhill Lions have lodged a complaint with MJSL chiefs following super-sub Adam Gilman’s last-gasp equaliser for Leeds Maccabi 2nds.

The students were up in arms after learning that Gilman had played for Leeds 1st just hours earlier.

And after the striker leapt off the bench to cancel out Chris Egan’s early strike, Oakhill boss Josh Daniels said: “We were not too happy.
