Peter Morrison Trophy to revert to original format

The Peter Morrison Trophy will revert to its original format for season 2016/17, the National Maccabi Football Committee have confirmed.

There were mixed feelings about the decision to make the competition, nicknamed The Jewish FA Cup, national from the first round.

League increases to 34 teams for season 2016/17

The new MGBSFL season will kick off on September 11 with 34 teams, it was confirmed at a meeting last night.

A total of 32 teams finished last season and an increased number will line-up with the three division league.

Ten teams will battle it out for glory in the Premier Division, while 12 sides will contest divisions one and two.

Silver-lining for Maccabi GB at European Maccabi Football Trophy

Maccabi GB returned from the European Maccabi Football Trophy with silver medals from Open Football and Open Futsal, in a competition where Maccabi France were the dominant force.

Things started badly for GB on the pitch as Daniel Shafron’s team lost 4-1 to France side who are believed to have fielded their Maccabiah squad.
