Pearl helps Lions Vets end Bushey hoodoo

A solitary effort from Craig Pearl ensured London Lions came out on top in this fiercely contested match, breaking a long term hoodoo in finally getting the better of reigning champions Bushey.

Both sides were shorn of one or two regulars, but that didn’t impact on the quality of the Garston Vets League game, played on the superb surface at the back of Rowley Lane.

A hat-trick from Scott Warren saw defending champions NORTH LONDON RAIDERS drop points for only the second time this season as they played out a thrilling 4-4 draw against BRADY MACCABI.

Tim Green registered Brady's other goal, with Tony Plaskow (2), Wayne Davidson and Nicky Skone on target for Raiders.


Lazarus leads Lions Vets through in AFA Cup

Bradley Lazarus was the hat-trick hero as Maccabi London Lions cruised into the next round of the AFA Vets Cup with a 4-1 success over Tansley.

Despite only being able to field four of the squad that contested the final last year, Lions still eventually had too much for a competitive Tansley side who more than played their part in an entertaining game at Rowley Lane.

A deadly double from James Temple consigned Faithfold to another defeat in Division One of the Maccabi Masters League as they were beaten 4-2 by HMH.

Further strikes from Jonny Gordon and Marc Ratzker sealed the points Faithfold. Boris Simons and Danny Myers replied for the Greens.


Conway hits three in Lions cup success

Saul Conway fired London Lions Vets into the second round of the Middlesex County Cup following a thrilling 8-4 victory over St Nicholas.

The Lions revelled on a glorious sunny morning at Rowley Lane to extend their winning start to the season. With injuries and absentees prevailing, the squad was stretched but still did enough in an enthralling game for the neutrals.

A four-goal salvo from Adam Stolerman saw Chigwell Athletic remain in pole position for the Maccabi Masters Division One title after their 5-2 win over Waldaf Town.

Defender Joel Berg claimed the other as they overturned Waldaf’s early lead and maintained their 100 per cent record. Lloyd Becker scored both Waldaf’s goals, one from the spot.

Chigwell Athletic finished the weekend top of the Maccabi Masters League Division One on goal difference after hitting HMH for six.

Two more goals from Mark Conway, Daniel Sugarman (2), Ryan Glynne and Jon Swead eased them to a 6-1 victory. Simon Shelley replied for HMH.

Andy Binstock was the hat-trick hero as Scrabble climbed to the top of the table with a 4-0 win over Faithfold.

Scrabble had to wait until the final quarter to break the deadlock, with Andy Miller scoring from outside the box, then providing the through-ball that set up the first of Binstock’s treble.
