Elan Ovits has described North London Raiders as the best team to have graced the Maccabi Masters League after they completed the double with a 3-1 victory over Waldaf Town.

Division One champions North London Raiders concluded their league campaign in style, and enjoyed the perfect preparation for Sunday’s Masters Cup final.

The double hopefuls romped past Faithfold 5-1 in the Maccabi Masters Football League, courtesy of goals from Saul Conway (2), Andy Bloom, Rob Cohen and Jon Isaacs. Ben Simons scored Faithfold’s consolation.

This year’s Maccabi Masters Cup final will be contested by North London Raiders and Waldaf Town on May 10 at Wingate & Finchley FC after both sides came through their respective semi-finals.


Abraham on the mark

April 23, 2015

A solitary strike from Michael Abraham kept Maccabi London Lions on course for the double after they edged out EDRS Stonegrove in the semi-finals of the Nathan Horwitz MMFL Division 2 Cup.

A five-goal salvo from Steve Summers inspired Chigwell Athletic to a 9-3 destruction of Waldaf Town. Further strikes from Mark Conway (2), Daniel Castle and Glenn Davis completed the rout.


Maccabi Masters review: April 19

This year’s Nathan Horwitz MMFL Division 2 Cup final will not – as has been the tradition – feature EDRS Stonegrove, after they were defeated in a closely-fought semi-final against Maccabi London Lions.

A solitary strike from Michael Abraham was all that separated the teams.

If goals were in short supply in the Cup, however, the day’s League games certainly made up for them!


Maccabi Masters review: April 12

North London Raiders retained the Maccabi Masters League Division One title after claiming a 3-1 victory over nearest rivals Waldaf Town.

A double from Richard Sacks, including a late penalty, plus one from Danny Daggers guided NLR home. James Kaye scored for Waldaf.

London Lions battled back from an awful start to record a league double over a typically spirited Greenford side.

On a filthy wet and windy morning at Rowley Lane, the Lions were missing a few players, but they drafted in Danny Reuben, Scott Levy, Nick Astaire, Alex Norman and Richard Baum to bolster their ranks.

Richard Slater is confident Chigwell Athletic can reach the final of the Henry Swerner Cup following an epic penalty shoot-out victory over Scrabble Harmen.

Maccabi Masters review: March 15

Maccabi London Lions reached the semi-finals of the Nathan Horwitz Cup after seeing off St John's Wood Tigers 4-1.

The teams were deadlocked at 1-1 until the last 10 minutes before last season's beaten finalists scored three times to settle the match.

Jason Harris (2), Simon Black and David Price registered for the Lions. Ashley Davidson struck for the Tigers.
