MGBSFL Matchday 14 review

Bourne puts skids on NLR

Alex Bourne blew the MMFL Division One title race wide open as defending champions North London Raiders tasted defeat for the first time this season.

The Waldaf Town striker scored the only goal of the game 10 minutes from time to take his team to within two points of NLR.

Scott Warren (3) was the star man as Brady Maccabi drew 4-4 with Scrabble Harmen. Jason Harris was the other scorer.

Improving HMH keep champions in check

Division One leaders North London Raiders dropped their first points of the season as they were held to a 1–1 draw by HMH in the Maccabi Masters League.

The in-form Tony Plaskow registered for NLR, while Neil Kochane converted a penalty for HMH.

20 players and 12 supporters comprised the MMFL Israel Tour 2014. After an absence of three years, 17 players were making return visits, whereas three players and three supporters were joining the tour for the first time. Tour organiser Stuart Lustigman and Brian Cowan were the only ever-presents.

Lions bowed out of the League Invitational Cup in the cruellest of manners when, having held out with 10 men for 40 minutes, they lost on spot kicks to an excellent Old Salvatorians team.

The hosts started the game on the front foot, Brad Lazarus setting the tone with a fizzing effort that flew inches over.
