Glenthorne B crowned Masters Division Two champions

Glenthorne United B are the new champions of the Maccabi Masters Division Two after a 2-0 win over Brady Maccabi B that gives them an unassailable lead at the top of the table.

Gary Adams set Glenthorne on the road to victory before midfield dynamo Trevor Granger put the seal on the title with a header after Adam Hart’s free kick had hit the bar.

Glenthorne B close in on Masters title

MASTERS Glenthorne United B edged a step closer to the Maccabi Masters League Division Two title with a 2-1 win over EDRS Stonegrove

A late free-kick from Adam Hart proved decisive in a game where they had forged ahead through an own goal. Mark Kingston equalised for EDRS.

The result means Glenthorne now require two points from their remaining two games to be assured of the championship.

Maccabi Masters review: April 29

South Mancs won the final match of the Maccabi Masters Division One league season with a thrilling 5-3 victory over Scrabble.

Three goals from Richard Reggel plus one apiece from Braham Hochenberg and Ben Kent sealed the win. Dan Ruckin (2) and Andy Miller replied for Scrabble.

Scrabble came away with a surprise 4-3 victory over cup finalists Glenthorne United A in Division One of the Maccabi Masters League. Danny Sugarman (2) and Jason Levy registered for Glenthorne.

Less of a surprise was North London Raiders’ win over South Mancs, although few will have predicted the scoreline, with Raiders running out 9-1 winners.

Maccabi Masters review: April 15

The 2012 Nathan Horwitz Maccabi Masters Division Two Cup final will be contested between EDRS Stonegrove and London Maccabi Lions.

The match, to be held at Barnet FC’s Underhill Stadium on May 16, was confirmed after Lions defeated Glenthorne B 4-0 in the second semi-final, with goals from Marc Morris, Barry Silkman, Darren Coon and an own goal.

The 2012 Henry Swerner Maccabi Masters Cup Final – to be held at Wingate & Finchley FC on April 29 – will be contested between Brady A and Glenthorne A, after their respective semi-final wins over London Maccabi Lions and South Mancs.

Brady beat Lions 3-1 win with goals from Mark Wagman, Laurence Myers and Nick Collins. Laurence Leigh claimed a consolation for the Lions.

EDRS Stonegrove set up a semi-final clash against Temple Fortune after hitting Hendon Harriers for six in the Nathan Horwitz MMFL Division 2 Cup, sponsored by Atlantis Travel.

Goals from Tony Platman, Phil Silver, Ian Leader, Martin Seifert (2) and an own goal eased them through. Ilan Cohen grabbed Hendon’s consolation.

Muamba incident is a real wake-up call to Maccabi footballers

Stuart Lustigman, the chairman of the Maccabi Masters League, has described the Muamba incident as "a real wake-up call" to Sunday morning footballers.

Lustigman this week emailed all clubs in the over-35's league, advising them to ensure they have someone qualified on hand to deal with similar incidents.

League champions Brady Maccabi A reached the semi-finals of the Henry Swerner Cup after a nail-biting penalty shoot-out win over North London Raiders.

The teams finished 2-2 after normal time. Gideon Barnett bagged a brace for Brady. Raiders' goals came through Lloyd Becker and Ashley Davidson.

Brady A win fifth consecutive Maccabi Masters League title

The all-conquering Brady Maccabi A ran out 3-1 winners against North London Raiders to retain the Maccabi Masters Football League title for the fifth consecutive season.

Two goals from Max Radford - including a 40-yard screamer - and one from Mark Wagman gave Brady the win they needed to secure the championship. In response, Ashley Davidson scored from the spot for Raiders.

Two goals from Barry Silkman earned a resilient Lions team a point in the top of the table clash at Fairlop.
