I recently read that the league is 'in crisis' due to the demise of several teams this season. Nothing could be further from the truth. The purpose of the league is to provide football for the community and are here to serve the teams. In short we are here for the benefit of the teams and not the other way round.

Faithfold 5-4 North London Raiders

Faithfold player-coach James Bloom insisted Daryl Phillips is still "among the best finishers in Jewish football" after his four goals won a nine-goal thriller against North London Raiders.

Running the show in this Maccabi Masters Division One contest alongside his MSFL colleagues Zuriel Solomon and David Garson, Phillips' speed over five yards and opportunism proved too much for a Raiders team who until recently still harboured title ambitions.

Cole names JC MSFL Rep team against Turkey

Jamie Cole, manager of the JC MSFL Rep team, has named a 21-man squad for next week's London Inter-League Cup opener against the Turkish Federation League.

Ahead of next Thursday evening's match at Brimsdown Rovers FC in Enfield, Cole said: "We've never beaten this team in this competition so there's a massive incentive for players."

Daniel Stanton has been named captain. London Maccabi Lions defender Louis Basger missed out on a place as he is unavailable. Brady Maccabi striker Paul Hakim, who is the only player from outside the Premier Division is doubtful due to injury.

Neasden win cup tie on penalties

Treble-chasing Neasden showed that practice makes perfect as they came from behind to deny Division One Brady Maccabi a giantkilling in a JC Cyril Anekstein Cup tie settled by a penalty shootout.

FC Team reach first London FA Cup Final

FC Team reached the final of the London FA Cup for the first time after beating AFC Mottingham.

In what manager Mitch Young described as the biggest match in the club’s history, Team were up against a the reigning Bromley & District League Premier champions. The south-east London outfit went into the game harbouring interests in five competition, amounting to a 26-match unbeaten run.

Lions Cup win amid linesman controversy

Referee Tony McEvoy defended his decision not to use linesmen during the first half of a controversial JC League Cup tie in which the Lions came from behind to win.

The official was clearly rattled after an incident-packed tie during which he awarded the hosts two disputable penalties and sent off RJC left back Sam McCarthy after the final whistle for foul and abusive language.

Redbridge out of County Cup

Goals from Steve Summers and Daniel Cooper did not prevent Redbridge Jewish Care A being eliminated from the County Cup as they lost 6-2 against Turkish outfit Yavruyatan at the quarter-final stage.

Mike Pearson (2), Yoav Lebens and Josh Morris kept London Maccabi Lions A top of the JC MSFL Premier Division after they thumped Hendon United B 4-0.

Second-placed Faithfold A saw off London Maccabi Lions B 4-0 with strikes from Benji Dymant (2), Daryl Phillips and Daniel Howard.

Neasden's hat-trick hero in Division One clash

Neasden boss Sammy Carr hailed the brilliance of hat-trick hero Ryan Sher whose performance settled the top-of-the table JC MSFL Division One clash at Bricket Wood.

The 2003 Maccabi Player of the Season was the difference between the teams as Neasden leapfrogged Raiders to go top on goal difference.

Carr said: “Ryan had one of the games where every player on the pitch envies his talent. He is a class act and can find passes no one else sees. He scored three and played a part in one other.

Lions U16 beat Gladstone

February 4, 2010

Jordan Marks maintained his excellent form by helping London Maccabi Lions clinch a 2-0 win over Gladstone in the Watford Friendly League Under 16 Blue Division. Max Wegoda claimed the other.

A goal from Jake Erlich was not enough to stop Lions Under 14s from going down 2-1 against Omonia.

Lions Under 10 registered 17 without reply against Cassiobury Rangers. Joshua Burns (5), Reuben Rabstein (3), Tyler Smith (3), Joseph Bellman (2), Nathan Brown (2), Sam Hamerton and Alexander Randall completed the scoring.

Lions cement league top spot

London Lions reserves maintained their advantage at the top of the Herts Senior County League Reserve Division One with a 3-0 victory over Baldock Town.

Make no mistake, this was a real hard game of football but, once again, Lions dug deep and eventually ran out deserved winners over an impressive visiting Baldock side.
