By Sharron Livingston, June 17, 2010

Benedict Bermange has been counting the days to the start of the new cricket season.

Now that it's in full swing, he is wowing commentators such as Mike Atherton, Nasser Hussain and David Gower with his knowledge of facts and figures.

The Sky Sports cricket statistician is helping them answer questions such as: "How many dot balls in the last five overs?", "When was the last boundary?", "How many overs has Flintoff bowled in this spell?" (And all that without even batting an eyelid).

By Danny Caro, June 14, 2010

Belmont 2nds came through in a nail-biting finish in a friendly against North Harrow.

Upon losing the toss, things started badly for BECC in the field with runs coming quickly, but once Gideon Mendel found the perfect line and length the tide turned.

Phil Mayer took a smart catch at mid-wicket to remove the dangerous opener off Mendel, who then proceeded to take two more wickets including a good catch at mid-off by newcomer Jason Mann, and one behind the stumps by Ryan Monk. Mendel ended up with 3-39.

The morning rain eased to allow Manchester Maccabi young under 13 cricketers to face their counterparts at Monton & Weaste and between the two teams served up an exciting match.

Monton chose to bat first and despite losing an early wicket when the score was on 10, motored along to 50 after just 10 overs. The wicket seemed to have little in it for the bowlers until captain Joe Lewis and Robbie Blackman removed three top order batsman.
