BECC keep alive promotion hopes

Belmont & Edgware 1st maintained promotion hopes with a nail-biting seven-run victory over Haryom in the Middlesex Sunday League Division Two.

After losing the toss, BECC openers Goodman and Abrahams started positively, with the pair finding some early form and accelerating the score to 30 until Abrahams fell to the opening bowler.

London Maccabi Vale eased to a storming 122 run against Botany Bay at the weekend.

Vale batted first and Jonathan Cantor got them off to a terrific start and he partnered well with Jacob Freedman to give Vale a commanding lead. Jon Galloway joined Cantor to add a further 71 before the latter finished on 73.

Jonathan Lieberman, South's winning captain in Steven Glicher's absence, said: "It was a good win for us because we had a lot of players missing and we always like to do our best, especially when playing our old friends. We were very pleased to win that game."

Salford won the toss and elected to bat in damp conditions but tight bowling from brothers Akiva and Huddy Lieberman kept the scoring down. In fact Salford only managed 11 runs off the first five overs as the bowlers were on top.
