Injury mars Mayer-inspired Belmont

In-form batsman Elliott Mayer carried his bat for a magnificent maiden century in a game marred by a nasty injury to an Edmonton player.

In sunny conditions, BECC captain Adam Jacobs once again won the toss and decided to bat on a belter of a pitch. Openers Phil and Elliott Mayer resumed their opening partnership and looked to score quickly from the off.

Brand blows Chingford away

Adam Brand smashed a 50-ball century as London Maccabi Vale 1st XI returned to winning ways in the Chess Valley League.

The Team GB captain came to the crease in the 32nd over and took the game away from Chingford with a typically brutal innings, finishing on 119 not out just 13 overs later.

Jonathan Lederman believes the future of Jewish cricket is in safe hands after Team GB’s Open and Junior squads returned from the Maccabiah with medals.

Simeon Cohen was the outstanding performer with the ball for GB Juniors. He finished with an economy rate of 1.06 as they finished the three-team competition with silver after going down to South Africa in the final.
