My wildest dream just came true

By Danny Caro, June 28, 2013

I may not have won the £157m Euromillions lottery this week, but being called up to represent Team GB at next month’s Maccabiah Games is simply beyond my wildest dreams.

This all appeared little more than a pipe dream 12 months ago when I was lying on a hospital bed following surgery, but I like a challenge …

Chigwell cruise home against BECC

June 24, 2013

Chigwell claimed a seven-wicket victory over Belmont & Edgware in a friendly.

With a player dropping out at the last minute, Belmont & Edgware skipper Ryan Monk won the toss and chose to bat, knowing a good score, he could defend with a weakened bowling attack.

This just wasn't cricket

By Danny Caro, June 21, 2013

Welcome to Hell. That famous slogan was all that was missing from the venue that hosted London Maccabi Vale’s most recent cricket match.

My teammates and I were eagerly anticipating Sunday’s Chess Valley League encounter against Finchley CC – that was until we turned up to the venue at Woodside Park Sports Club.

Raymond Aston has been appointed captain of the Israeli Open cricket team at next month’s Maccabiah Games.

The host nation has selected a 15-man squad for the competition which gets under way on July 18.

Landau and Lebens impress for MAL

June 18, 2013

MAL played out an entertaining drawn game with their landlords, Old Camdenians, on Sunday.

Skipper Yoav Lebens won the toss and chose to field, and the Old Cams batters were soon under pressure at 7-3, with good catching in the slip cordon from Mark Landau and Jack Winton, followed up by Lebens hitting the stumps, giving the skipper the first three wickets.

Two out of two for London Maccabi Vale

June 18, 2013

London Maccabi Vale 1st made it two out of two in the Chess Valley League following a comfortable 80-run win over Finchley.

Scoring runs proved tricky on a green wicket, but openers Danny Caro and Jordan Urban laid solid foundations against a Finchley team who took to the field with only eight players in a match played on a poor surface in Woodside Park.

Marvellous Mayers sparkle for BECC

June 17, 2013

A good performance with bat and ball inspired Belmont & Edgware to a 29-run victory over Graces CC.

Belmont lost the toss and were asked to bat on a damp and slightly green deck. Beginning the innings in heavy drizzle, the two Mayers, Elliot and Phil, played themselves in before becoming increasingly expansive.

Manchester win derby clash

By James Masters, June 17, 2013

Manchester Cricket Club bounced back in style from last week’s defeat by winning the big clash with Salford by eight wickets.

Manchester, who suffered a 110-run loss against Forresters in their previous game, eased past their rivals in the battle of the two Jewish teams.

Huddy Lieberman’s stunning spell of fast bowling ripped through the heart of the Salford batting line-up.

LMV 2nd comprehensively beaten

By Danny Caro, June 17, 2013

London Maccabi Vale 2nd XI suffered a comprehensive 133-run defeat against Bourne End.

LMV’s decision to put Bourne End into bat appeared to be the right one as a team featuring a mix of youth and experience made an excellent start to restrict Bourne End to 80-4 after 20 overs, thanks to some tight fielding and some good bowling.
