It was approaching 11pm as we trickled out of Rowley Lane. After a roller-coaster of a season, it was fitting that London Maccabi Vale’s AGM was a little rocky. But in the end, there was a general feeling of satisfaction that the right decisions had been made and the right people were in place to take the club forward.


Stevens called up for Middlesex

Rising star Josh Stevens has been rewarded for an excellent season with a call-up for the Middlesex CC under-13 Winter Performance squad.

Stevens, who is 12 and lives in Bushey, was selected following a series of eye-catching displays for Stanmore and London Maccabi Vale.

The fast bowler will link up with the squad at the Middlesex Indoor School in Finchley in November.

Having had his season cut short by injury, the former Maccabiah star is now settling into his new home in Perth after moving from South Australia to Western Australia.


South Manchester stars clean up

Steven Glicher praised his players after South Manchester Sports swept the board at the Greater Manchester Amateur League’s end-of-season awards.

Having finished third in the table, Dan Glicher collected the Young Player accolade, while master blaster Akiva Lieberman received trophies for most runs scored, the highest average in Division Three, as well as the top score.


Cup final heartbreak for South Manchester

South Manchester rounded off their summer with defeat in a T20 final against Foresters.

Captain Steven Glicher reflected on "a hugely disappointing result after a below-par performance," at Styal CC. This combined with the fact that they have narrowly missed out on promotion as a result of other results, means that South Manchester walk away without any silverware this year.


Saleh gets BECC over the line

An excellent knock from Phil Mayer inspired Belmont & Edgware to a two-wicket win over GWR in a friendly.

Missing key batsmen, BECC were optimistic going into the match following their strong recent run of form.


Salford cut down by Foresters

Salford Blue Jays suffered a disappointing defeat in their final match of the Greater Manchester Amateur League season.

Runs were at a premium on a sticky wicket, with the ball not coming on to the bat. Josh Henry batted nicely for 23 and put on 31 for the second wicket with Caleb Blake (19).

As a Liverpool fan, I’m used to players writing a heartfelt open letter to fans upon their departure, namely those who leave on good terms. Luis Suarez did it and most recently, Daniel Agger did it. It is widely regarded as a touch of class. So it is no surprise to see Oscar Garcia share his thoughts with fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv following his unexpected departure.


London Maccabi Vale clinch promotion

London Maccabi Vale sealed promotion into Chess Valley League Division Four despite a defeat in their final game of the season.

The LMV batsmen struggled on a slow wicket at Old Chomleans, with only Adam Brand (77) getting to grips with the St. John’s Wood attack in a score of 155.


BECC continue to grow and develop

Belmont & Edgware came out second best in an entertaining friendly against Regals.

In slightly overcast conditions at Old Lyonians, BECC lost the toss and were asked to bowl first. Skipper Adam Jacobs elected to open up with Attar and left-armer Tilley.
