Israel to send record delegation to Rio 2016

Israeli officials have confirmed that the delegation will send its largest-ever squad to an Olympic Games this summer.

The group competing in Rio will surpass the 37 athletes who represented Israel across eight sports at the London 2012 games, as well as the 43 representatives in 11 sports that competed in Beijing four years earlier.

Foreman ready for Davis on road to new title shot

Yuri Foreman will make the second appearance of his latest comeback against journeyman Jason Davis at the Resort World Casino in Queens, New York.

Foreman, the former WBA world light-middleweight champion, fought for the first time since 2013 when he took a unanimous decision over Lenwood Dozier at the Barclays Arena in his home neighbourhood of Brooklyn, New York, in December.

Radus runs out of luck

Lia Radus narrowly missed out on a place on the podium at the Junior British Athletics One Mile Road Championships, held as part of the Westminster Mile series of races.

Radus, 14, placed fourth in the under-15 Girls’ event in 5:13, the same time as bronze medallist Lucy Olsen.

Bloch secures silver at Scottish Road Race Championship

Shani Bloch survived a high-speed crash just yards from the finish line to secure second place at the Scottish Road Race Championship.

In a strong break-away group of eight — including Israel’s star professional rider — which had formed early on in the short 42-miles race, Bloch and Eileen Roe opened up a gap a third of the way through the final lap in West Calder.
