Maccabi GB Handball produced one of the performances of the season before they eventually succumbed 19-12 against Thames Handball II.

The MGBF players felt extremely aggrieved not to come away from the England Handball Association (EHA) Regional Development League 2 match with three points as they took Thames the distance at Score Centre, Leytonstone on Sunday.

Manchester Maccabi 1st breezed into the last four of the Handi-Cup with a 5-2 victory over West Manchester.

It was the fifth cup game in a row for Manchester Maccabi 1st team and starting 2-0 down before even kicking a ball meant it was imperative to start quickly.

Israeli umpire dies after being struck by ball

Tributes have been flooding in after former Israel cricket captain Hillel Oscar died after being struck by the ball whilst umpiring.

Standing at the non-striker's end, it is believed the ball ricocheted off the stumps after being hit on the head and he Oscar fell to the ground at the match played in Ashdod.

He was taken to a city hospital, but medics were unable to revive him.
