Lustigman's tour of pride

The Maccabi Lawn Bowls Association will be touring Israel for the fourth consecutive year when it plays matches against all of Israel's bowling clubs in October.

Players past and present converged on the Urbis National Football Museum for a gala event that culminated in the club's end-of-season awards.

Dyrham delight

Dyrham Park were toasting Glancy Trophy success for the first time after sweeping the board at the 76th annual tournament in Liverpool.

Winners of The Metropolitan a fortnight ago, Dyrham won the 18-team competition that featured the top players from the Jewish Golf Clubs and Societies in the UK and Ireland.

Dyrham's Leon Moss described the victory at Lee Park as "a phenomenal achievement".


Adam makes a big splash

Adam Warner took bronze at the German Open Water finals.

Warner finished third in his age group in the 5K, crossing the line in 60 minutes. He had to settle for 19th place in the 10k in a time of two hours.

Hemed back in La Liga

Tomer Hemed has signed a two-year deal with Almeria.

Club president Alfonso García hopes the 27-year-old Israeli international striker can consolidate their position in La Liga after narrowly avoiding relegation last season.

Yossi given armband

Yossi Benayoun has been installed as Maccabi Haifa's new captain.

Benayoun, who rejoined his former club on a two-year deal last month, will replace Yaniv Katan as skipper.

Former West Ham midfielder Katan is hanging up his boots at the age of 33 having been told he was surplus to requirements after Aleksandar Stanojevic took over as manager.

Beck earns major shot

Laetitia Beck continued her march to the top by qualifying for this week's British Open.

Beck, who is 22 and from Caesarea, became the first Israeli woman to reach the tournament after carding a four-under-par 70 at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport.

She ended the final qualifying round as the highest ranked amateur in a tie for fifth place.

Blatt wins top Euro coaching prize
