Rackind promises results for Team GB

Rob Rackind will chair the Team GB squash squad heading to Vienna for next year's European Maccabi Games in Vienna.

Rackind is looking to bring the youth players through the system as well as ensuring that provincial players have the same opportunity to participate as London based players.

Watford 'Friendly' becomes nasty brawl

A Watford Friendly League match between Whetstone Sabres and London Maccabi Lions Under 18s was abandoned early in the second half due to a mass brawl.

Although details from the referee's report have yet to come through, we understand that a tempestuous affair reached boiling point late in the first half when a Lions player punched an opponent, leaving him needing hospital treatment. Things got out of hand quickly with parents and spectators running on to the pitch.

Benayoun blasts Israel FA chairman

Yossi Benayoun, the Israel captain, has publicly criticised Israel FA chairman Avi Luzon for blaming Blackpool's Dekel Keinan for Israel's two recent Euro 2012 qualifying defeats.

His comments came after Luzon blamed Keinan for back-to-back 2-1 defeats against Croatia and Greece. Luzon said: "Keinan ruined both games for us, giving away a goal in each game."

Benayoun said: "I don't think any chairman has the right to criticise any player. His words were not appropriate.

Berg appointed Rep Team manager

Danny Berg is the new manager of the JC MSFL Rep Team.

Head coach at Redbridge Jewish Care A, Berg, 26, is relishing the prospect of rubbing shoulders with the top footballers in the capital.

Berg's management team will feature FC Team manager Mitch Young as his assistant, Leyton Orient coach John Hyatt and Tony Gold, the London Lions manager, who led the Rep team to glory several years ago.

Raul destroys Hapoel Tel Aviv

Hapoel Tel Aviv's European shortcomings came to the fore again on Wednesday night as they were beaten 3-1 by Schalke in Germany.

Raúl (2) and Jurado condemned last season's Israeli league winners to their third consecutive defeat in the Champions League Group B match with Itay Shechter claiming a stoppage time consolation.

South Manchester slumped to a 3 -0 home defeat which leaves them stranded mid table in the Accountants League Premier division.

Playing on a fantastic surface in beautiful conditions, they hardly strung a pass together for the whole game and did not register a single shot on target.

JC Olim League round-up

The second week of the JC Olim League in Israel was a much tighter affair than the goal fest of the opening week.

Current champions England FC opened their title defence against newly merged Modiin and Bet Shemesh while an enthralling north of centre derby took place between Netanya and Raanana.

England FC struggled to break down a resilient Modiin defence in the first half. Yarden Barness on his debut and John Rosenbaum both were put through but could not beat the excellent Yanki Tajtelbaum in the Modiin goal.

Maccabi Masters round-up

North London Raiders opened a four point lead at the top of the Maccabi Masters League Division One with a 6-2 demolition of Glenthorne United A.

Goals from Wayne Davidson, Ashley Davidson and Richard Sacks had put Raiders 3-0 ahead before Sid Shaw gave Glenthorne a lifeline just before the break.

Glenthorne then further reduced the deficit with a penalty after the interval, but this only stirred Raiders into action, and two more goals from Sacks gave him his hat-trick, and a sixth goal, from Jon Yantin, completed the rout.

FC Team make it four out of four

FC Team went into the top of the Middlesex County League Division One table after hammering title rivals St. Lawrence 5-1.

Both sides went into the game knowing that whatever happened, one team will lose their 100 per cent record.

Missing midfielder Andy Croll, it took FC Team 15 minutes to get into their stride as Mitch Lassman set up Obinna who hit his shot against the frame of the post.

The game was end to end with St. Lawrence playing some good counter-attacking football, trying to switch play to their star No. 9 but Josh Morris at right back was dealing with him very well.

Hendon Hawks Rangers held Hendon Hawks Rovers to a 1 - 1 draw, thus ending their high scoring winning streak.

Hendon Hawks Rangers went into the game with a defensive game plan and executed the tactics to perfection. The Rangers were playing three defenders for the first time this season. This defensive approach ensured that David Amor did not add to his tally of 19 goals for the season whilst providing the Rangers with the ability to threaten on the counter - attack.
