A hat-trick from Daryl Phillips steered former winners Faithfold A into the fourth round of the Peter Morrison Trophy as they overcame a gritty Holy Mount Zion.

The Premier Division side were on top throughout the first half with Paul Babai and Benjy Dymant dominating in midfield and wingers Lorian Madanes and Joe Cohen both looking extremely dangerous. However strong defending from the Division Three team kept Faithfold at bay.

Cash fills his boots as holders progress

Darren Yarlett, the North West Neasden coach, believes that his team are back to their best after they stuck 12 past Division Three favourites Glenthorne United A on the 3G at the Hive.

A sensational five-goal salvo from LEE CASH helped current holders Neasden cruise into the next round.

Having experienced a poor first-half of the season, Cole was delighted with the display.

Colmans wonder goal caps Brady win

A goal of the week contender from Brady keeper Oli Colmans – that travelled the distance of the pitch – was clearly the icing on the cake as the Edgware club moved top of the JC MSFL Division One with a 6-0 demolition of Montana Boca United A.

Having come close to scoring earlier in the game, the stalwart keeper claimed the game’s final goal with a wind-assisted drop-kick that flew over stranded Montana keeper Lee Duskwick before nestling in the net for his first goal in senior football.

Levi stars as the Hawks go through on penalties

Hendon Hawks Rangers progressed to the second round of the cup after beating HMH on penalties.

The Hawks approached the first round of the cup with a counter-attack mentality, playing three at the back and two up front.

HMH Eilat dominated the first half of the game, piling on pressure for the strong Hawks defence to deal with.

AC Whetstone win Under 14 title

AC Whetstone secured the Maccabi Junior League Under 14 title with their 11th consecutive win of the season.

They beat title rivals Hendon White 5 -2 at The Hive in Edgware. The victory takes Whetsone to 22 points from 11 games and means they cannot be caught at the top.

Whetstone opened with a 20 yard thunderbolt from David Clements.

Hendon equalised minutes later with a scrambled finish from a corner but Phillipe Auret restored AC Whetstone's lead when he coolly rounded the keeper.

Maccabi Masters round-up

Defending champions Brady Maccabi A edged towards another Maccabi Masters League title with an emphatic 11-1 demolition of Faithfold.

Striker Mark Wagman led the way with a four-goal blitz. Laurence Beck (3), Paul Shamplina, David Rose, Scott Ansher and Nigel Goldthorpe completed the rout.

Faithfold’s consolation came through Jason Levy.

Jonathan Summerfield and Olly Olsen netting exchanged goals as second-placed North London Raiders drew 1-1 draw against South Mancs A.

Bernstein double helps Real Life make their point

Two more goals from Real Life talisman Charlie Bernstein ensured that honours finished even in Walthamstow following a four-goal thriller.

An exciting game from start to finish and probably a fair result.

It really was a game for the attacks of both team as both looked good going forward with defences struggling.

Joe Cullum then had the ball in the back of the net, but the goal was ruled out for offisde following an incredibly close call was given by the ref.

Temple Fortune held off a late Woodford Wanderers onslaught to move nearer the promotion places in a JC MSFL Division Two clash which saw referee Peter Lavelle- Maurice mired in controversy.

The boys are backing down

Danny Reuben, the head of London Maccabi Lions’ Sunday section, hit out at the club’s younger players after he was forced to pull its B team from the league.

Reuben cited a lack of commitment and enthusiasm as part of the reason the team had to fold. He said: “At the beginning of the season we were confident we had enough players. We desperately wanted to keep the side going and this is not a decision we have taken lightly. We did everything to keep the team alive.”
