Boxer Laura Saperstein returns

Having made a successful return to the British ring following a nine-month absence, Laura Saperstein has set her sights on the super featherweight world title.

Competing in her first six-round lightweight bout, Saperstein stopped Lana Cooper early on at York Hall in Bethnal Green after her opponent dislocated her shoulder throwing a punch that missed the former lawyer.

Saperstein cut a frustrated figure as she was keen to get more ring-time under her belt. "I had four weeks notice to get fit for the fight and was so annoyed with the way it finished.

Richard Goodman struggles at U20 Championship

Richard Goodman found the going tough in the Under 20 World Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Giving away up to three years on his competitors, the Maccabi GB Sports Personality of 2010 finished 74th in a race where the first 26 were from African nations.

EDRS clinch Masters League 2 title

EDRS Stonegrove clinched the Maccabi Masters Division Two title after beating Brady Maccabi B 3-2.

Gary Rose put Brady ahead inside the opening 30 seconds and they doubled the lead in controversial fashion minutes later when Marc Herman took advantage of an EDRS goal-kick, which hit an overhead wire.

However, in an act of sportsmanship which exemplifies the spirit of Masters football, Brady captain Malcolm Hershman allowed EDRS striker Phil Silver to score unchallenged from the kick-off to restore their lead to a single goal. Tony Platman (2) secured the points for EDRS.

Neasden reach Peter Morrison quarters

Peter Morrison Trophy holders North West Neasden A marched into the quarter-finals claiming an impressive 3-0 win at South Manchester Maccabi 1st with goals from Lee Cash, James Gershfield and Ben Ellis.

First half penalties from Daryl Phillips and Alex Levack took Faithfold A into the last eight as they bypassed a tricky test against Haroldeans in Liverpool. Josh Rubin netted for Merseysiders.

London Maccabi Lions A registered a perfect 10 against Camden Park with goals from David Dinkin (3), Mike Pearson (2), Yoav Lebens (2), Motti Colman, Josh Morris and Joel Ross.

Pinner beat Harpenden

Will Pithers, Matt Lubel, Marc Shaw and Freddie Newman were among the scorers as Pinner JFC Under 18s thumped Harpenden Colts Eagles 6-1 in the Watford Friendly League Purple Division.

James Smyth was the hat-trick hero as Pinner Under 15s beat Cassiobury Rangers Spartans 3-2. Pinner were pegged back on two occasions but Smyth fired the winner three minutes from time.

Brady Maccabi in title contention

Brady Maccabi A moved to within two points of Division One leaders Glenthorne United A thanks to goals from Nick Collins (3) and Mark Wagman. Jason Levy and Richard Goldstein struck for Glenthorne.

Darren Gurner fired a hat-trick as Faithfold overcame London Maccabi Lions A 3-2.

Andy Miller and Nick Baum replied. EDRS Stonegrove require just one point from their remaining two games to secure the Division Two title after beating Ashlodge 3-1. Adam Kern, Jon Kaye and Jacob Namer were the marksmen.

Lions to face Met Police in semis

London Lions set up a mouth-watering semi-final against Met Police with a hard fought 3-2 win over Standon in the Aubrey Cup.

Two Lee Cash specials and a rare Ben Lauffer goal put them through.

Danny Schindler and Ben Ellis kept London Lions reserves top of the HSCL Reserve Division One with a 2-1 win over Cuffley.

Cohen's delight at first team Bolton pick

Tamir Cohen, the Bolton Wanderers' midfielder, has reflected on a dramatic turnaround in fortunes to his career and has come to the conclusion that football is indeed a funny old game.

Over the last 12 months, the Israeli international has gone from fringe player to one of the mainstays of the team, who recently replaced manager Gary Megson with Owen Coyle.

"Any game that I didn't play or wasn't selected, I would go home and be so angry, I didn't know what to do with myself.

"And I'll be honest, I don't know where it all changed for me.

Fresh from their recent seven-a-side victory, Oakhill Lions beat Westdene 1st with goals from Daniel Cohen (3) and Jake Gilbert.

Michael Pine helped Crumpsall pick up their first point of the campaign in the draw against Sporting JLGB. Adam Schwinger after heading into the bottom corner.

Charlie Rubin and Max Wegoda were the marksmen as London Maccabi Lions Under 16s beat Potters Bar in the Watford Friendly League Blue Division.

Ben Myers, Joseph Bellman (2), Tyler Smith and an own goal helped Lions Under 10 beat Chorleywood Common in the Under 10 White Division.
