Tammam’s effort not enough for Manchester Maccabi

Ray Tammam's brave innings failed to prevent Manchester Maccabi from falling to defeat against Stretford Friends in the Greater Manchester Amateur League.

During a rain-affected game, Tammam took three wickets and hit a classy 34 but Maccabi still slumped to a 69-run loss against an in-form Stretford.

Livewire Lebens fires MAL to victory

Yoav Lebens produced a batting masterclass to propel MAL to within sight of the Division Two Middlesex Sunday Cricket League title.

Lebens smashed 71 off just 48 balls as MAL eased to a 45-run victory over fellow challengers SKLP.

Liverwire Lebens hit three huge sixes and six boundaries on his way to racking up a fourth half-century from five games.

Evans turns on the style for Belmont

Jonny Evans hit a stunning half-century as Belmont and Edgware 1st recorded a second consecutive league victory.

In-form Evans smashed a classy 50 as BECC defeated West Middlesex by five-wickets after easily reaching their target of 141.

Having seen off Kensington and Chelsea last week, Belmont flexed their muscles once again with another dominant display.

Open football in pole position for gold

Brave GB well beaten by red-hot Russians

The Masters Futsal put in a brave performance before going down 8-1 against competition favourites Russia.

A combination of good organisation, shape and discipline helped GB keep the match goalless for the opening 18 minutes. They also rode their luck at times with the woodwork coming to the rescue on three occasions as well as keeper Phil Caplin producing a number of heroic saves.

Ten-man GB edge past Switzerland

Strikes from TJ Keterman and Daniel Stanton helped GB edge past Switzerland 2-1 to maintain their gold medal hopes in the Open football competition on Day Three of the European Maccabi Games in Vienna.

But the result did not give a true reflection of the match as Swiss keeper Mathieu Wolownick made several world-class saves to keep his team in the game.

GB swimmers make a splash

Between them, Trevor Pears, together with junior swimmers Hollie Fisher and Naomi Ayrton have claimed 17 medals with the girls involved in more races today.
