Basso voted No. 1

Louie Basso is the MJSL Player of the Year.

The Manchester Maccabi youngster received the Tony Waltzer Trophy at Oldham Athletic on Sunday.

Basso, 17, also plays for Altrincham Boys. He capped a fine year by helping the Brooklands club win the Peter Morrison Trophy and MJSL title.

Oli Grant retained the Steve Blackstone top-scorer award with 25 goals.

Sam Shindler-Glass, 14, recorded personal bests of 57.1 for 400 metres and 2:11.0 for 800 metres when representing Ealing, Southall and Middlesex AC in the Young Athletes League .

Strikes from Jake Norton, Aaron Benjamin, George Goldberg and Josh Dreyfuss secured the Under 14 Harris Balcomb Trophy as Highgate & Muswell Hill overcame Manchester Maccabi 4-1 at Boundary Park.

The Londoners forged ahead only to be pegged back at the break. The second half was a different story as they upped their game, scoring three times and hitting the woodwork.
