Lichkin hits the jackpot

Terry Lichkin won the singles title at the 18th Maccabi lawn bowls finals at Bishopswood Bowls Club in Finchley.

Lichkin, from Wanstead Central Bowls Club, beat Frank Dryer of Bishopswood 21-13 in an entertaining encounter.

The mixed pairs trophy was won by the mother and son team of Barbara and Andrew Cohen for the third year in a row.

Bloom: We're ready for Liverpool

Brighton chairman Tony Bloom is relishing next week's visit of Liverpool to the Amex Stadium.

With the team flying high at the top of the Championship, Bloom believes that these are exciting times for the Seagulls ahead of the big Carling Cup clash.

"I couldn't be happier at the moment," said Bloom. "The team has settled into the division and is doing very well.


Jacobson: We can beat Arsenal

Leeds Maccabi 2nd boss Simon Fisher is remaining defiant despite his side suffering a 3-0 defeat against Osmondthorpe Rangers.

Louie Fisher and Mark Korn both wasted golden opportunities as Osmondthorpe took advantage to record a comfortable victory.

Despite an encouraging start, Leeds were unable to build on their supremacy and were made to pay for their wastefulness in front of goal.

Gary Cohen hauled Montana level with a pile-driver but they made a disastrous start to the second half and found themselves 4-1 down.

Maccabi cricket cup final preview

Belmont & Edgware will be looking to go one better when they take on MAL in the final of the Maccabi Knockout Cup on Sunday.

Captained by Warren Averbuch, BECC were beaten by London Maccabi Vale in last year’s final. but having recently clinched promotion from the Middlesex Sunday League Division Three, Averbuch is confident his big guns will fire at London Colney CC.
