Beck earns major shot

Laetitia Beck continued her march to the top by qualifying for this week's British Open.

Beck, who is 22 and from Caesarea, became the first Israeli woman to reach the tournament after carding a four-under-par 70 at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport.

She ended the final qualifying round as the highest ranked amateur in a tie for fifth place.

Blatt wins top Euro coaching prize

David Blatt capped a memorable few months by winning the Euroleague Coach of the Year title.

Blatt steered Maccabi Tel Aviv to victory in the final four competition after overcoming Real Madrid – their first European success since 2005.


Olympic effort overpowers Salford

Salford Blue Jays suffered a heavy defeat to Olympic MSJ on Sunday at St Pauls.

Olympic won the toss and chose to bat and then punished some wayward Salford bowling. Opener Asif Shazzas hit 107 as Olympic reached 238 before being bowled out.

Caleb Blake (4-25) and Jonny Wineberg (2-41) exerted some control, but the target certainly looked a tough ask.

Belmont & Edgware went down to a 19-run defeat in a nail-biter against Mill Hill Development.

After losing the toss, the Belmont & Edgware boys took to the field and Adam Jacobs and Ed Saleh opened the bowling and found the going tough as Mill Hill's hard-hitting openers raced to 87-0 after just six overs.
