Furman opted to join SuperSport United in Pretoria on a two-year deal this week in a surprise move.

Cape Town-born Jew Furman, 27, moved to the UK with his family as a child.

Scots enjoy fling in Berlin

Wendy Cohen was delighted the European Maccabi Games in Berlin was such a huge success for Maccabi Scotland.

An affiliate of Maccabi GB, the 14-athlete delegation brought home a flurry of medals in badminton,
swimming and table tennis.

Head of Delegation Cohen said: "It was a unique experience and Team Scotland was a true inspiration to be part of."

Joe Kaye and Nathan Sonn secured bronze in the U14 team event in table tennis while Dylan Goldstein and Oliver Adler won bronze in the 15-16 team event.

Following the European U23 road championships in Estonia, Israel's Cycling Academy team are heading to Denver, Colorado, for the seven-day USA Pro Challenge.

The hotly contested events in Tartu resulted in a number of bunch crashes, mechanical problems and sheer exhaustion that reduced the field by almost a third in several events.
