Hartsbourne sparkle at John Reubens Cup

Hartsbourne won the main prize at the John Reubens Tournament, held at Coombe Hill.

Teams of six, with all players being under 21, represent their club with the four best out of six gross scores counting.

Abridge, Dyrham Park, Hartsbourne and Coombe Hill entered teams and faced a strong challenge with an immaculately prepared course made more testing by a strong wind and thick rough.

Sussex star Field shines

Daniel Field was in scintillating form with the bat as Sussex claimed back-to-back victories in the Blind Cricket Championship.

The former Maccabi GB Sportsperson of the Year blasted an unbeaten 59 from 50 balls in the seven-wicket victory over Warwickshire. He also chipped in with figures of 1-10 with the ball.

Israel net lacrosse win

British pair Natasha Kalmanson and Sacha Stout inspired Israel’s lacrosse teams to victory at the EC12 Festival in Holland.

Kalmanson was part of the women’s team which fought back from a four-goal deficit to claim the title.

Manchester-born Stout was also in the thick of the action, helping the men’s team win all 14 games on their way to glory.

Sanford finishes fourth at Euro Athletics Championships

Donald Sanford finished a creditable fourth in the men’s 400m following an impressive showing at the European Championships in Helsinki.

Sanford, who received Israeli citizenship earlier this year, came home in 45.91 seconds, finishing just 0.09
seconds short of a medal position.

Olympic-bound Jillian Schwartz, another American-born Israeli, finished down the field in 11th in the final

Jesse Levine’s run ended at the second round stage as he was elimated by David Goffin in the Men’s singles.

In the Ladies Singles, Italy’s Camila Giorgi progressed to the fourth round before she was well beaten by third seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.

Ram and Erlich relishing third Olympics

Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram are relishing the chance to compete at Wimbledon for the second time in a matter of weeks at the upcoming Olympic Games.

Erlich said: "It will be our third Olympics,” he said. "It will be nice to be back here in London on this grass. It’s our favourite surface and we have good memories here. That will be an advantage here at the Olympics.

Daniel Wynne believes Tottenham supporters can go into the new season full of optimism following the appointment of Andre Villas-Boas.

The former Porto and Chelsea manager was named as the replacement for Harry Redknapp on Tuesday.

And Wynne, spokesman for the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust, is confident club chairman Daniel Levy has made the right choice.

Manchester Maccabi slip to defeat

Manchester Maccabi failed to halt a rampant Wilmslow as Ray Tammam’s men crashed to a disappointing defeat.

Wilmslow, who are unbeaten this season, were helped to victory by Toby Rowe’s stunning unbeaten effort of 106.

Rowe’s innings steered Wilmslow to 204-8 off their 40 overs, despite a fine effort from the Maccabi bowlers.
