Masilela deal falls through

Maccabi Haifa defender Tsepo Masilela's move to Leicester has fallen through after the South African international failed a medical.

The Foxes were not convinced that a knee injury, which kept Masilela out for four months last season, has fully healed. Maccabi are now looking to sell the player to Genk.

Synchronised swimmers in 2012 boost

Anastasia Gloushkov and Inna Yoffe moved a step closer to winning a place at the 2012 Olympic Games after finishing 14th overall at the World Championships in Shanghai.

Competing in the technical duets, they recorded a score of 86.000, meaning they must finish in the top 24 of the Olympic trials to earn a place in London.

Manchester City midfielder Guy Assulin has denied rumours he will be loaned to a Championship team for season 2011/12.

The 20-year-old Israeli, who joined City from Barcelona last November, played 69 minutes for the club's reserves last Saturday in a 2-1 win over Altrincham Town.

Israel suffered their third straight defeat at the European Division 1 T20 Tournament.

An excellent unbeaten 109-run partnership between captain Asif Khan (59 not out) and hard-hitting Imran Choudhry (60 not out) led Germany to a convincing seven-wicket victory in Group B at FB Fields.

GB's basketball team found the going tough as they were beaten by Turkey, Italy, Germany and Austria.

Power forward Joe Curtis and point guard Joshua Cramer were praised by joint-manager Craig Harris, who led the team with Tamir Grant.

Harris said: "In the end it came down to fitness and not taking our chances."

David Kyte believes Team GB can build on their success from the European Maccabi Games at the 2013 Maccabiah Games.

Kyte, the head of the GB delegation in Vienna, led a 240-man team that brought home 78 medals including 32 gold.

MSFL still thriving, says Wolff

David Wolff, chairman of the Maccabi (Southern) Football League, has confirmed that six new teams will be joining the league for the 2011/12 season.

Athletic Finchley, Brady Maccabi B, Brixton Old Boys B, Boca Jewniors, FC Team C and SPEC will join Division Four, taking the league up to 51 teams.

Pinner JFC, Real Life and Zig Zag have withdrawn.

We understand that a row between rival Jewish Societies has been brewing over the subject of exclusivity for several months and the figures speak for themselves.
