JC MSFL Matchday 30 preview

Kashkett and Sollosi jnr impress for MGB Futsal

Maccabi GB Futsal took seven points from a possible 12 at the University of East London's Sportsdock arena, on Matchday Four of the National Futsal League Southern Division Two.

The highlight of the day was the outstanding debuts of east London schoolboy duo, Scott Kashket and Sam Sollosi.

David Peters, 40, has won his first national title as a veteran, the British Masters Indoor 1500m at Lee Valley. Herne Hill Harrier runner Peters secured victory by a clear margin in 4:08.64.

Goodman’s dream ticket

Richard Goodman has secured a coveted athletic scholarship at the University of Oregon, and will take it up on Monday.

Oregon University is recognised as a centre of athletic excellence, and its head coach Vin Lananna was also head coach for Team USA at last year’s World Athletics Championships.


Selwyn praises 'strong ref'

Leeds Maccabi boss Ian Selwyn heaped praise on referee Philip Worth following a racist incident during his side’s Leeds Sunday Alliance League Cup clash.

Selwyn was left fuming after a player from Leeds Amateurs was shown a straight red card for making an alleged racist comment during last Sunday’s 3-2 defeat.


‘Mr Basketball’ counters those who take shots at Israel

Tal Brody could have been drafted into the NBA but turned that down to help change the landscape of Israeli sport. In playing for the Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team, his presence in Israel also led the way for more Jewish American basketball stars to come and play in Israel. Amongst them were Barry Leibowitz from Long Island University and Lou Silver from Harvard.


Pommeranz Juice and Pearl Dental to meet in INC final

Pommeranz Juice Good Old Boys and Pearl Dental Cicket Club will meet in the Best of three Israel Night Cricket cup final.

Both teams had convincing wins over third-placed Modi'in Young Lions and cemented their spots in the final, which will be played on the weekend of April 19.
