MSFL Rep team stripped of cup and manager sacked

● Rep Team boss sacked after fielding ineligible players● His players are told to give back the cup and medals
● The league is fined and warned about its conduct

The MSFL Rep Team's recent London Inter-Cup success has been wiped from the record books after they were found guilty of fielding ineligible players in the final and ordered to return the trophy.

As revealed on May 21, MSFL chairman David Wolff reported the Rep team after Sam Sloma and Aron Barnes played in the 3-2 victory. Prior to the decision, the MSFL management committee dismissed Jamie Cole as Rep team manager.

Danny Caro's Teams of the Season

It's been another long, hard season but we got there in the end. London Lions, North West Neasden A and London Maccabi Lions were the top dogs down south, while up north, Haroldeans and Oakhill Lions added silverware to their trophy cabinets.

The managers have made their nominations, now JC Sports Editor Danny Caro unveils his JC Teams of the Season.

Grant confirmed as West Ham manager

West Ham this morning confirmed the appointment of Avram Grant on a four-year contract, subject to being granted a work permit.

As reported, Grant, the former Israel and Chelsea manager, will join the club fresh from leading Portsmouth to the FA Cup final. He was unable to save them from relegation after they went into administration and incurred a nine-point deduction.

Ahead of being officially unveiled later this month, Grant said: “I am proud and honoured to be the manager of West Ham. It will be an exciting challenge and I am ready to do my best.

Maccabi GB unveils female football committee

Maccabi GB have appointed a new committee aimed at developing junior girls and women’s football.

Brad Solomon will chair the commit with Dr Tamar Koch named vice-chairman. They will help prepare the squads over the next three years including the 2011 European Maccabi Games and 2013 Maccabiah.

The pair have been sets a series of aims and objectives to build a platform for GB’s medal push.

New coach for Barnet

Michael Stone has been appointed first team coach at Barnet.

Stone, 31, has joined from Rushden and Diamonds where he was assistant-manager to Justin Edinburgh.

Stone joins the Bees, who narrowly avoided relegation from League Two, having helped Rushden reach the playoffs after finishing fourth in the Blue Square Premier.

Prior to his spell at Rushden, he was managed Wingate & Finchley and coached the GB squad at the European Maccabi Games in Rome.

MAL produced an outstanding performance with the ball and in the field to record a nine-wicket victory over Clapton Falcon CC in a friendly at Old Camdenians on Sunday.

Clapton won the toss and elected to bat on an excellent looking track. There was little evidence of the carnage to come as the openers took the score to 16 before Yoav Lebens produced an excellent inswinger to bowl Junaid for 6.

Belmont & Edgware set up a trip to Manchester with a Maccabi National Knockout Cup quarter-final victory over Southgate Synagogue.

Deputising for Ashley Connick as BECC captain, Jonathan Evans lost the toss to Richard Mitchell who elected to bat. Warren Averbuch (1-30) bowled a hostile opening spell, picking up a wicket thanks to a sharp catch in the gully by Cliff Horowitz.

Benayoun nearing Chelsea move

Reports from Israel indicate that Yossi Benayoun will move from Liverpool to Chelsea in the coming days.

Liverpool have already rejected a £4 million offer from Chelsea and are asking £8 million for the Israel captain. The two teams are expected to compromise on £6 million.

Dynamo Moscow have reportedly made a higher offer for Benayoun but the midfielder is insistent that he would rather move to Stamford Bridge.
